Tsubasa TERAYAMA and Yuta ARAI WEB Group Interview

<Tsubasa TERAYAMA>
Q: How do you feel about the intensity of the practice and the atmosphere of the team after participating in the camp so far?
A, both the players and staff have a great atmosphere, and in a good way, it's friendly and harmonious, allowing us to train in a positive environment.

Q, regarding your condition, including preparations before the camp, what is your current state?
A, I myself fell ill during the off-season, so I entered camp in poor condition. Also, in university, I played on artificial turf fields, but in the professional league, the fields are natural grass, so I felt some discomfort with the pitch. However, since coming to Okinawa, my condition has gradually improved up to this point.

Q: I think you can play various positions, but which position do you think you will be playing?
I want to compete as an anchor or inside half.

Q: When building the team and observing the plays of the seniors, for example, in the inside half, there are players with high intensity, and as for the anchor, Keigo HIGASHI is fixed, which allows the defense line to have some leeway by securing the ball. While watching the characteristics of the seniors, have you been able to specifically identify things you have learned or points where you can compete?
In the anchor position, I want to learn from watching Higashi's ball handling and work rate. As an inside half, Matsuki and Abe demonstrate high intensity and work rate throughout the full 90 minutes, which is something I lack. I want to steal that and make it my own to win the position battle.

Q, is it your determination to confront head-on in that competition?
A, I also pride myself on my work rate and ball-winning ability, so I see him as a good rival in a positive way. I want to play aggressively without holding back and take the position.

Q: I believe you have actually won against Tokyo with that attitude, but now that you are officially a member of the team, how much do you feel you can perform as a professional while accompanying the team?
A, there are many high-level players, and I am stimulated every day. Even in this short period so far, I feel that I still have a long way to go. However, I don't think I am doing nothing either, but I believe that unless I can showcase one or two more aspects of my play, I won't be able to secure a starting position. Since there are many good players, I want to steal, learn, absorb, and stand out.

Q: You may not have felt too distant since you were participating in practice while still in university, but after experiencing the disappointment of being relegated from the Premier League to the Prince League in U-18, do you feel that there is a story that connects the last four years for you, Terayama?
When I was a third-year student in the U-18 category, I was relegated to the Prince League and felt frustrated. During my four years at university, I practiced every day to return to Tokyo. I am genuinely happy that the efforts I have built up were recognized and allowed me to join. However, I still haven't forgotten the frustration of relegation, so now that I have entered the professional world, I feel a strong sense of responsibility and aim to win the J1 championship and various other titles in Tokyo.

Q: Please tell me specifically about the areas that still need improvement and the areas that are effective.
A, the areas that still need improvement are quality and amount of physical activity. Especially in terms of quality, I feel that I am still lacking. On the other hand, I feel confident about my ability to win the ball during practice, so I have a sense of accomplishment there.

Q: I have heard that you pay attention to your diet. What do you focus on?
A, since junior high school, I have been eating meat every day to build up my body. Now, since I am in the middle of a training camp, I try to avoid fried foods and focus on eating enough rice while paying attention to nutrition in my meals.

Q: What kind of meat did you incorporate?
It varied depending on the day, sometimes lean meat, sometimes black-haired Wagyu beef.

Q: I believe your family has supported you until now, but as you have turned professional and your environment has changed, how will you manage from now on?
A, I don't drink much protein or similar supplements. Currently, since I live in the dormitory, I am provided with meals that carefully consider nutritional balance, so I am able to have a well-balanced diet.

Q: I understand that you are not doing strength training, but I think the impact of your diet has been significant. How do you feel about it yourself?
A. In the morning, I believed that eating meat would make my body bigger, so I kept eating it. Also, during my student days, I commuted by bicycle, so I think I was strengthened in that way.

Q: How much time did you spend commuting to school every day?
A, it takes about 1 hour round trip.

Q: It is now the fourth day of camp. How is the camp going as a professional?
A, since I had the experience last year as well, I understand the overall flow. I think this camp has increased intensity and is becoming a good camp.

Q: How is your communication with your seniors?
Since the seniors might leave for overseas at any time, I try to actively communicate with them myself.

Q: Are there any players you talk to particularly well?
We ask player Nagatomo about stretching and body care. We often talked after practice last year.

Q: This will be your first year in the league. What kind of period do you want to have leading up to the opening match?
A, my goal for this season is to win the title, so I hope to make a strong impression in practice and contribute as much as possible.

Q: I think Matsuki contributed to the team in his first year last season. What are your thoughts on seeing that?
A, Matsuki has been playing continuously since his first year and has consistently delivered results, so I hope to be able to play confidently from my first year as well.

Q: Do you have direct conversations or communication with Matsuki? Also, do you receive advice on how to achieve results from your first year?
A, I have great respect for him as a person, and since Matsuki often talks to me, we have good communication. Also, I hope to learn more about strengthening the mental aspect.
