1/13 Training
On the 13th, the second day of the Okinawa Kunigami camp, the first phase of the camp officially started at Kaigin Field Kunigami. In the morning, physical tests were conducted, including the tryout (calculating total distance based on a 20m round trip time run) and the one-legged hopping test (measuring the distance of a three-step jump on one leg). In the afternoon, circuit training was incorporated, and the team spent an hour and a half sweating while using the ball.
And finally, from the afternoon of this day, Kento HASHIMOTO joined the camp. He immediately appeared on the field and participated in some of the activities from the first day.
As they met new teammates and staff, smiles were prominent when reconnecting with players who knew them from four and a half seasons ago. With the new members of Tokyo gathered, they will accelerate team building from here.
CAMP VOICE vol.2 Soma ANZAI
On the second day of the Okinawa Kunigami camp, 'CAMP VOICE' features Soma ANZAI, who challenged his limits in the yo-yo tryout. After running a team-best 1,640m, Soma collapsed on the spot, receiving applause and praise from his teammates. He took over the number 7 jersey in blue and red, having played together with Kuryu MATSUKI at Aomori Yamada High School this season. We listened to Soma's words, which demonstrated his determination through his running.
Q, it was a wonderful run.
A, I believe that running is a way to prove my fighting spirit within myself. I think that's also the part that is easiest for others to understand. This season, I approached it with determination, so I believe I was able to prove that determination as well.
Q: I will be wearing the number 7 jersey starting this season.
A, I want to lead the team through my own attitude. Personally, I believe it is meaningless if I am not on the pitch for the opening match. I want to keep making strong appeals toward that goal. I want to play with full effort no matter the situation.
Q, it is a number that has only been worn by four people in history.
I understand that number is never a light number for Tokyo. Kuryu MATSUKI, who wore it until midway through last season, also led the team as captain before heading off to Europe. There is a certain amount of pressure, but understanding that, I chose this number with determination and want to build my own image of the number 7.
Q: What kind of number 7 image do you want to create?
A, I don't think my role will change significantly from last season. When the team is struggling or seems to be losing momentum, I want to help and prove my commitment to fighting for the team while wearing this number 7.
Q: So, please tell us your personal goals for the start of this season.
I believe it is important for both the team and individuals to focus on the numbers. I don't think last season's 4 goals and 2 assists are satisfactory results. This season, I want to accumulate numbers that stand out to anyone who sees them. I want to demand that of myself, regardless of the position I play.
