Match Report
The Semifinal Round of the 29th Prince Takamado Trophy All Japan Youth (U-15) Football Championship was held at FC Tokyo's home stadium, AJINOMOTO FIELD NISHIGAOKA.
So far in this tournament (3 matches), FC Tokyo U-15 Fukagawa has advanced without conceding any goals and will face Omiya Ardija Junior Youth.
Before the match, Coach Ota said, "It's a wonderful stage. Let's value the switch in everything and show the Fukagawa spirit. No matter what, let's not give up and play with grit." After conveying this, everyone in the locker room grabbed their chest emblems and headed out to the pitch.
[First Half]
Omiya dominated possession of the ball.
For about 5 minutes after the start of the match, Omiya maintained possession of the ball and launched attacks from both sides, but the defense of Fukagawa firmly closed off the center, giving no chances.
Fukagawa makes runs behind the opponent, drawing out middle passes from Sasanuma and Aoki, but they cannot create any chances.
In defense, Sasakuma and Aoki from the front line make a dedicated attempt to press the opponent's DF line, but they struggle to focus and end up allowing the ball to be brought into their own territory.
However, around the 20-minute mark, Fukagawa started connecting passes and began to find their rhythm at the 22nd minute.
Tokiwa intercepts in midfield, and Ryo SAKUMA and Yasuda get involved here. The three connect with precise passes, and in the end, Ryo SAKUMA takes a shot from distance with his right foot, but it goes just left of the target.
In the 27th and 28th minutes, Omiya threatened the goal with a short counterattack, but both shots went wide of the target.
Then, after fending off this opponent's attack, Fukagawa scored the opening goal.
In the 36th minute, Yasuda, who initiated a dribble on the left side, passes to Aoki, who has moved forward.
Aoki initiated a one-on-one inside the left penalty area and cut in towards the goal area, then made a backward pass to Anzai.
Anzai firmly pushes this in to score the opening goal.
Immediately after, Aoki timed his run perfectly to break behind the opposing defense line, and although he aimed for a lob over the advancing opposing GK, it was just slightly off target.
Although they couldn't score additional points, they went into halftime leading 1-0.
【Halftime】
Coach Ota: "We returned with a score of 1-0, but we haven't gained anything yet. Let's apply pressure from the front as a team and showcase our strengths. The defense must not forget risk management."
【Second Half】
Fukagawa confirmed that everyone would apply pressure from the front during halftime, and they took control with coordinated pressing from the start.
When Sasakuma and Aoki in the front line apply pressure, the midfield and defense line respond by pushing up, trapping Omiya's strength of short passes.
In the 43rd minute, a left corner kick was sent to the far post, and from there, a counterattack was received, but Sugawara quickly switched and kicked the opponent's ball out of play to break the flow.
Fukagawa, who maintained his concentration, received a pass from Shin in the 47th minute. Sasakuma delivered a final pass to Aoki, who broke through and calmly scored an additional goal in a one-on-one situation with the opposing goalkeeper.
Further intensifying their attack, Fukagawa saw Yasuda break into the penalty area in the 52nd minute after receiving a feed from Kimura.
In the 53rd minute, Sugawara made a move inside the left penalty area to earn a corner kick, which Anzai directed to Aoki at the far post, but it went over the goal.
Then in the 58th minute, the opposing goalkeeper's goal kick was a mis-kick, and Aoki picked it up.
Calmly scored with his left foot in a one-on-one with this GK, extending the lead to three points, but faced a relentless counterattack from Omiya.
Despite being attacked multiple times towards the Fukagawa goal from long throws and dribbles from both sides, Kimura and Shin stood firm and responded.
Furthermore, GK Kumakura showcased excellent saves, and the defense has built a solid wall, remaining scoreless in the tournament so far.
Fukagawa's Nozawa, who came on as a substitute, threatened the goal with a counterattack, showing an attacking stance until the end to keep the opponent in check.
Fukagawa sent in substitute players in the final stages, closing out the game with a 3-0 victory and advancing to the Final Round.
Although it was a weekday event, the Semifinal Round attracted many fans and supporters to the stands, strongly cheering on the players and staff.
Additionally, the U-18 players who recently won the 'Takamado Cup U-18 Soccer League 2017 Championship' rushed to the goal area and cheered loudly for U-15 Fukagawa, which strengthened the sense of unity as FC Tokyo.
From this tournament, the official match shorts for the U-15 team will feature the logo of 'Club Support Members'.
The players, who have strengthened their feelings of gratitude, will challenge for the historic first achievement of winning both the Emperor's Cup U-18 and U-15.
