<Match Report>
FC Tokyo U-15 participated in the 34th Japan Club Youth Championship (U-15) held in cities such as Obihiro, Hokkaido from August 15th to 24th.
Achieved a national ranking of 3rd place.
On the 23rd, Musashi faced off against Sagan Tosu U-15, the previous year's champion, in the semifinal held at Mori Kyugijo A in Obihiro.
Unfortunately, the temperature gauge shows a number of 16.3℃ while it is pouring rain.
Despite the wind and rain pouring down, the perceived temperature felt lower than those numbers.
However, the players who came all the way to Obihiro were encouraged by the cheers of the fans and supporters, and they showed a hot game that didn't make them feel the cold.
The main concern in this match was the puddles formed by the pouring rain and the unevenness on the pitch caused by the continuous summer games.
As the Kitakami coach said, "Both are the same conditions," so there was no advantage or disadvantage, but it was certainly difficult to build up carefully from the intended DF and GK, and the development naturally increased with the long ball that was cut off. It became a battle based on fierce battles, with aerial battles and ground battles being fought.
As coach Makoto KITA exclaimed, "Even players who are not tall have strong legs," they were dominated by Sagan Tosu through physical contact plays.
They also picked up a lot of loose balls and were under a lot of pressure, facing many shots from the first half.
However, as coach Kita reflects, "We had a lot of strong players, but through this tournament, they have become better at playing for their teammates." Therefore, we must maintain a strong defensive awareness, including our forward players, and persistently resist Tosu's attacks.
FW Naoki KUMATA and others created scenes where they threatened the goal, and ended the first half with a decent flow.
In the second half, Musashi was the one who moved the game.
53 minutes, FW Terukazu Taguchi steals the spotlight from Tosu by winning a series of battles from a throw-in and ultimately scoring with a right-footed shot into the space.
A circle of joy was born, and it seemed that we had grasped the flow of the game at once, but from here on we would face a fierce counterattack from Tosu.
DF Kanta DOI said, "There was a part where the team let their guard down after scoring points. I should have spoken up and calmed the team down during that time, and we should have played a little slower," biting his lip.
59 minutes, we were scored an equalizer goal from a free kick that we could only praise the opponent for, and then we conceded another goal from an attack from the side just before the end of the second half. We allowed a comeback.
Even after being reversed, the Musashi players did not give up and launched a fierce attack. In the end, GK Kusata Nishiyama also joined the attack and aimed for an equalizing goal, but they were unable to break through Tosu's goal.
The scoreboard numbers remained unchanged at 1-2, and the final whistle was heard.
"Today's game made us feel our lack of strength," said Coach Kita frankly. "There were some good moments, such as when we took the lead, but overall it was a tough game. I think there were areas where we were lacking, and I believe Tosu was stronger than us," he reflected.
It was not just about the result, but also about the content, such as being hit by about three times as many shots.
The coach analyzes, "I think we lacked the ability to come up with ideas in a natural environment where things happen unexpectedly, such as adapting to the not-so-bad pitch conditions due to rain, other than what was discussed in the meeting."
However, at the same time, I think that they showed their current strength and also became third place in the country, so I also praise the efforts of the players who have survived this far.
In addition, he summed up by saying, "They have grown while overcoming challenges in each game in this wonderful tournament. If they can use the experience and confidence gained here to move on to the next step."
We have vowed to continue to grow with our players towards the next tournament and the next stage.
