○Match Report
【Challenge to the next stage】
As the sun begins to set, the 41st Japan Club Youth Soccer Championship (U-18) Kanto Tournament quarterfinals were held at the comfortable temperature of the "Tokyo Gas Musashino-En Multipurpose Ground".
Manager Sato tells his players, "Increase your own value. If you fight sincerely, you can win. Let's win solidly and connect to tomorrow."
The opponent, Kashiwa Reysol U-18, was tied in the final minutes in the Premier League EAST Section 5 of the 2017 Emperor's Cup U-18 Soccer League held on May 7 (Sun).
The match, which is expected to be a tense battle until the end, kicked off at 16:30.
[First Half]
Tokyo, who wants to take the lead and advance the game in their favor from the start, will try to catch Kashiwa, who focuses on passing at their feet, by working together as a team and intercepting passes to the front line.
In attack, Hinda and Kobayashi (Shin) take turns weaving short and long passes to anticipate the opponent's movements.
The first chance came at 7 minutes, when Shinaida received the ball in a low position in the middle and turned to face forward, sending a long ball behind the opponent's high defensive line where Hara ran in.
If the ball had connected, it would have been a great opportunity, but it narrowly missed and went over the goal line.
After that, they faced several pinches from their own missed passes and the opponent's free kicks, but GK Takase and his team did not allow any goals.
In the 23rd minute, Haru successfully intercepted the opponent's build-up in the center and passed it to the free Imamura.
Imamura tries to shoot the ball into the goal in a one-on-one situation with the opposing goalkeeper, but it is cleared by the opposing DF at the last minute.
Shinohara, wearing the captain's armband, headed the right corner kick that Hirata kicked with a clear and it went outside the frame.
Tokyo, who pushed the ball up to a high position by connecting passes, finally scored the opening goal at the 30-minute mark. Sakaguchi, who received a pass from Imamura on the right side, carefully sends a cross ball to the center.
Sugiyama won the ball from the opponent and scored a goal with a header.
The endgame continued in a stalemate with both sides vying for control, and they went into halftime with a one-point lead.
【Halftime】
Coach Sato
"Let's increase the time we hold onto the ball and take control. Let's defend without giving the opponent any chances and fight until the end."
【Second Half】
Tokyo, who had many chances of being pushed back by Kashiwa and facing a pinch from behind the left side from the start of the second half, had the ball held by Kashiwa and pushed in many times.
Tokyo will try to take control of the game by making consecutive substitutions from the early stages of the second half, as Kashiwa will come to score goals. In the 65th minute, Imamura will be replaced by Kubo (Masaru), and in the 76th minute, Terayama will be replaced by Shina to grab the momentum.
Tokyo, which has gradually grasped the pace, will face a big chance in the 83rd minute.
Substitute Terayama fiercely chases the opponent's connection in the center. The ball intercepted by stretching his foot on Kashiwa's pass is passed to Kubo (Masaru), who also came on as a substitute.
Kubo (Masashi) swings his left foot without hesitation, but narrowly misses the goal.
Tokyo wants to grab the pace even more by substituting Yokoyama for Fukino in the 86th minute, but towards the end, they continue to face danger with the opponent's set plays.
However, Tokyo managed to hold off Highase, Shinohara, and Kusasumi's attempts and finished the game with a 1-0 victory.
Tokyo, who was able to share the weight of one point with everyone, will continue to fight with a challenging spirit in tomorrow's semifinal round.
Thank you very much for your warm support to the players today.
We kindly ask for your continued support and warm cheers for FC Tokyo U-18.
