○Match Report
【Challenge to the next stage】
3rd day of the 41st Japan Club Youth Soccer Championship (U-18).
Due to bad weather, the kickoff time will be changed on the morning of the match day, but the team will continue to prepare without losing focus.
Tokyo, the only team with two consecutive wins in the group, has secured advancement to the group stage.
The opponent, Kyoto SANGA F.C. U-18, must win this match to have a chance of advancing to the knockout stage, and they will come into the match highly motivated.
Yesterday, Tokyo focused on training and rest, working to recover their condition as they aim for a third consecutive victory in this match.
Coach Sato emphasized before the match, "The outcome lies in the details. Let's compete for 80 minutes based on our standards. Defense will require both the ability to take the ball and to extinguish threats. Let's enter the game firmly." and sent the players onto the pitch with renewed focus.
[First Half]
The first half, which started with a kickoff from Kyoto, saw Kyoto controlling the ball. However, Tokyo maintained the initiative.
Kyoto will launch an attack with a careful build-up, including the GK.
In response, Tokyo, led by the two forwards Hara and Kobayashi (Miki), applies pressure from the front to take away freedom and prevent the opponent from entering their own territory.
The first chance is from a corner kick.
In the 6th minute, Shinada took a right corner kick that was headed by Yokoyama, who jumped in at the near post, but the opposing defense blocked it near the goal line.
Kyoto also sent a left corner kick to the far side in the 11th minute, but Ohmoto, who started in the lineup for the first time in this tournament, calmly responded with a punch.
In the 14th and 21st minutes, they approached the goal from the right side, but the defense responded and did not allow a goal.
In the 28th minute, Shinada chased a long ball kicked deep into the left penalty area, and after switching positions, he was fouled by an opponent, earning a penalty kick.
Kobayashi (Miki) calmly kicked it to the left to score the opening goal.
Tokyo, not giving up control, saw Sakaguchi run into a long ball sent deep to the left side in the 33rd minute, delivering a low cross.
Kobayashi (Miki) aims with his left foot near the goal, but is thwarted by the goalkeeper's excellent save.
The additional goal was scored just before the end of the first half at the 40th minute.
Kobayashi (Makoto) connected with Okaniwa, who made a big run behind the right side, and initiated a vertical dribble to deliver a low cross to the near post.
Hara heads the ball into the net despite a difficult position, making it 2-0 at halftime.
【Halftime】
Coach Sato
"In the second half, the opponent will come at us with considerable power. Instead of just receiving it, let's approach it with the mindset of overwhelming them. Let's not forget we have a two-goal lead and focus as we enter the game."
【Second Half】
Similar to the first half, Kyoto tries to maintain an advantage in ball possession, but Tokyo substitutes four players to increase their possession rate.
Kobayashi (Miki) and Sugiyama at the front line limited the opponent's passing lanes, while Terayama and Hirakawa aggressively approached the ball that came into the midfield.
In addition, against long balls, centered around Shinohara, they do not concede aerial superiority, repeatedly executing challenge and cover to prevent the opponent from creating chances.
When Tokyo takes the ball, they alternate between quickly attacking vertically and slowly connecting passes, advancing the game while evading the opponent's press with short passes.
In the 64th minute, Kubo was brought in to replace Kobayashi (Miki) to make a change.
In the 70th minute, a ball is sent to the left back, and Kobayashi (Makoto) chases after it. The opposing DF tries to get in the way, but Kobayashi skillfully switches positions and takes the ball to Kubo.
After passing to Sugiyama who came to support, a shot was taken from deep inside the left penalty area, but the opposing DF blocked it.
Kubo picks up the loose ball and attempts to dribble, but it goes out of bounds for a goal kick.
In the 72nd minute, Sugiyama dribbled in from the left and Kubo made a run behind. Using this as a decoy, he passed to Yokoyama, who came in from the right, but the shot went straight to the goalkeeper.
In the 76th minute, Kyoto takes a powerful shot from the center, but Ohmoto dives to the right to make the save.
Tokyo maintained their concentration until the end, and although dangerous situations were created, the defense closed in and did not allow any freedom, leading to a victory as the match concluded.
Finished the group stage with three consecutive wins.
As a result of this, we secured first place in the group stage and advanced to the round of 16.
Thank you very much for your warm support for the players today as well.
We appreciate your continued support for FC Tokyo U-18.
