【Challenge to the next stage】
The 41st Japan Club Youth Soccer Championship (U-18) quarterfinals will be the final round of the Gunma round.
The opponent for the quarterfinals is Shonan Bellmare Youth.
In the Round of 16, Nagoya Grampus U18 advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating their opponent in a penalty shootout.
Coach Sato said, "The opponent runs very well. That's why we have to run more than them. Let's play our own soccer no matter where the opponent is."
And, "The god of victory resides in the details. Let's win and return to our Tokyo!" he shouted at the players and sent them onto the pitch.
Despite light rain, many fans, supporters, and parents of both teams gathered at "Maebashi Football Center C Field" for the early Saturday morning game.
The match, which aims for "AJINOMOTO FIELD NISHIGAOKA", began with a kick-off from Shonan amidst cheers from both teams.
【First Half】
After winning the Round 16 in a penalty shootout, Shonan will come out with great momentum and attack fiercely from the beginning.
Starting with Shonan kickoff, they advance the ball and take the first shot from a dribble. This is just 8 seconds from the start.
They put pressure on Tokyo with even sharper starts, connecting passes in attack, and until around the 7th minute, they were in control.
From there, Tokyo gradually regained its composure and began to grasp the rhythm from the ball behind the opponent's DF line, scoring on their first chance.
10 minutes, Hirakawa dribbles through the left side deeply and crosses to the near side.
Kobayashi (Miki) connects this, but it is blocked by the opposing GK. However, the loose ball is ultimately struck in by Shinaida with a middle shot, taking the lead.
In addition, at the 15-minute mark, Sugiyama and Hirakawa connected on the left side and passed it to Kubo, who also made a deep run.
Kobayashi (Miki) firmly pushes in the additional point when he matches the minus cross near.
This tournament will be a demonstration of the ability to turn few opportunities into certain goals.
Afterwards, Tokyo dominated the ball and Shonan aimed for sharp counters, leading to a tense period.
Tokyo, aiming for an additional point, at 18 minutes, Hinda skillfully avoids two opponents with ball control and passes to Sugiyama.
In the 19th minute, immediately after, Kubo received the ball in the center of the PA and passed it to Kobayashi (Miki) who ran to the right. However, both were blocked by the opponent's GK when they took a free shot.
After that, they continued to dominate the ball and launched a variety of attacks with a fast-paced mix of long and short passes from both the center and the left and right sides, but they were unable to break through the Shonan defense and ended the first half with a 2-0 lead.
[Halftime]
Coach Sato
"Our game plan is not bad. The opponent is a team that can run for 90 minutes + α. Let's continue to put pressure on them from the beginning of the second half and finish the game strong. We need to go into the second half with the mindset of 0-0 and start fresh."
【Second half】
The second half began as the rain intensified.
As per coach Sato's words, Tokyo put pressure from the beginning and scored a goal from a free kick.
47 minutes, Kubo is fouled in the opponent's PA center and earns a free kick. He aims for the top left corner of the goal with his left foot and scores while hitting the crossbar.
Score an early goal.
Afterwards, Tokyo continued to dominate the ball, and the game progressed with Shonan launching sharp counterattacks.
Tokyo, 51 minutes in, Kobayashi (Miki) breaks through deeply on the right side and crosses to the near side.
Kubo tries to aim for this with one touch, but the GK blocks it. Furthermore, Hara tries to follow up on the loose ball, but can't push it in.
Shonan, who never gives up, earns a CK in the 54th minute and the GK joins the attack. He takes a header shot, but the referee calls a foul before that.
Shonan GK continues to actively participate in attacking in front of the goal in set plays.
56 minutes, Arakawa crosses from the left side and Hirakawa picks up the loose ball and shoots inside the penalty area.
Hara, who was in the offside line, changed the course with one touch and scored 4-0.
Hara scored his fourth goal in four consecutive games in the tournament.
However, they did not give up the lead even after conceding a goal in the 58th minute due to a momentary lapse.
65 minutes, Arakawa received a deflection from Kobayashi (Miki) on the right side and broke through alone into the PA.
Cutting in from a speedy dribble, the final touch with the left foot pierces the far side, making it 5-1.
After that, Tokyo continued to send fresh players to the pitch, such as Yokoyama, Fukino, and Terayama, without letting the momentum slip away.
89 minutes, when receiving the counter from persistent Shonan, the second goal is taken from the center.
In addition, Shonan, who never gives up, got a FK in the 90+2 minute in the Tokyo field, and once again the GK joined the attack.
The Tokyo defense repels this and clears it out, and then Fubino makes a fierce approach towards the landing point.
Picking up the ball from a battle with the opposing GK near the center circle in the opponent's territory, I dribbled past the approaching DF and scored into the unguarded goal, making it 6-2.
Holding off Shonan, who kept chasing until the end, we advanced to the semifinal round held at home at "AJINOMOTO FIELD NISHIGAOKA".
