INTERVIEW 2022.1.30

Interview with Kensuke NAGAI

Q, it was the first practice match against a J1 team since starting the new football approach. How did it feel?
A, the whole team still made a lot of easy mistakes. Making such mistakes in official matches leads to conceding goals, so we have a sense of urgency to correct them in the remaining time, including the one-week camp.

Q: Are we currently in the stage of repeating trial and error?
A, that's right. Mistakes made as a result of taking on challenges and mistakes made by doing nothing are completely different, so everyone is confirming and challenging together. We are always discussing how to solve the issues that arise from taking on challenges and improve.

Q: How do you feel about your own progress while taking on this new challenge in soccer?
A, the coach values ball possession, but at the same time, he wants the players to take on challenges when the opportunity arises. We hope to create more situations where we can take those chances. Since the camp has only been going on for two weeks, we aim to improve our precision in the remaining week and be in good condition for the season opener.

Q: I would like to enhance communication among the players even more.
A, I feel that communication on the pitch is more necessary than ever. I think defending the moment we lose the ball will be crucial, so I want us to raise our level by calling out to each other.

Q: What level do you want to reach by the end of the remaining camp?
First, I want to properly take care of my health and improve my condition during the rest of the camp.
