INTERVIEW 2022.3.03

Interview with Yuta ARAI

Q: How did you feel on the day you found out you were included in the squad for the first time in an official J-League match and accompanied the team?
I didn't think I would be included in the A team, but when I was selected, I was determined to be well prepared so that I could play at any time.

Q: How did you feel about the different atmosphere, such as greeting fans and supporters when arriving at the venue by team bus or during warm-ups, compared to high school?
A, I have been watching it on TV since I was little, and the J.League stage was something I admired, so I was quite nervous to be there myself.

Q: When were you informed about your substitution?
A, at the end of the first half, while the substitute members were entering the pitch and kicking the ball, I was told, "Yuta, you'll go in from the second half!" At that moment, I was very surprised because I didn't expect to be called in so soon.

Q: When substituting, you appeared to enter the pitch confidently from the touchline.
A, I am often told by various people that I appear confident, but I don't think so myself. Of course, I was nervous when entering the pitch.

Q: When you left the locker room and headed to the pitch, you were called out by Ryoya OGAWA. What did he say to you?
From player A Ogawa, I was told, "Don't be nervous and keep attacking." Albert PUIG ORTONEDA, the coach, also told me, "Stay wide on the side, and when the ball comes, courageously keep attacking," so I kept that in mind while playing.

Q: What did you feel after playing for 45 minutes on the pitch?

A, I felt that the speed, pass accuracy, and quality are different from high school.

Q: How did it feel?
A, since I received many passes, I thought it was meaningless unless I used my strengths like dribbling and chance-making in those moments. I played with the mindset of courageously taking on challenges.

Q: What kind of play do you want to show the next time you participate?
A. When the chance to play comes, I want to make plays that affect the outcome so that the team can win. I will do my best to contribute to FC Tokyo's victory.
