INTERVIEW 2023.2.02

2023 2nd CAMP INTERVIEW DAY3

[Player Interview]
<PEROTTI>

Q: How did it feel to participate in a real match in Tokyo for the first time, even though it was a short time?
<div>A, today was a short time, but there were many very positive things. Since it was my first time, there are parts where I don't understand Japanese soccer or Tokyo's style, but the main thing I was thinking about was to move aggressively. There was also a scene where I took the ball and it led to a goal. As I continue to play, I think I will come to understand Japanese soccer and Tokyo's concept, and since I had been away from games for about three months myself, in that sense, there were many positive gains.

Q: The goal scene started with PEROTTI's hard work.
A, I think you understood my playing style from watching today, which is to play devotedly on the pitch. Since I was a child, scoring goals is the best, but even if I can't score, I have always valued contributing to the team. What I can promise everyone is to give my all and use all my strength until the very end of the remaining time. Of course, this applies to soccer, other sports, and life in general as well.

Q: Seeing that hard work, I felt that the fans and supporters were strongly encouraging us from behind.
A, I want to be 100% myself in various aspects, but since it’s not something that can be achieved easily, I want to proceed with preparation while staying calm and patient. I will do my best to reach 100% condition as soon as possible.

Q: Have you ever watched a Tokyo match at Ajinomoto Stadium?
A, I have watched several matches and received information about Tokyo's playing style last season and what kind of play is needed for my position. However, I think playing in a match is different from just watching. That said, I have definitely received solid information.

Q: What kind of play do you want to show in front of nearly 30,000 fans?
A, there will be no changes from before. As you saw today, I believe I can only do what I am capable of. Within that, I want to show a fighting spirit. Even today, I feel my condition has not yet improved, and although my playing time was short, since the season started, I want to demonstrate a fighting attitude for the team inside the stadium.

Q: Are there any areas where you have blended into the team?
A, I was worried that various things might be difficult when I came to Japan, but thanks to everyone, I was able to join the team smoothly. One reason is that there are other Brazilian players who help me in many ways. I also receive great support from interpreters Mr. Iino and Mr. Kobayashi. I was able to adapt better than I expected, and although I was worried about meals, I can eat more than I thought. I don't understand the language at all (laughs), but I want to gradually get used to it and build good relationships with the Japanese players.

Q: Please tell us the reason why you decided to move to Japan.
A, we Brazilian players hope to play overseas, and among them, I also wish to play abroad. Before coming to Japan, I played in Portugal. Around 2016, I heard from players with experience playing in Japan about the greatness of Japanese soccer and culture, and I always wanted to play in Japan someday. I am grateful to everyone who helped make that wish come true, and now that I am here, I believe it is up to me to do my best.

<Hisatoshi NISHIDO>

Q, please review the goal scene.
A, thanks to the efforts of the surrounding players, the ball spilled to me and I was able to score.

Q: The shot was also with the opposite foot.
When I carried the ball forward, my touch became too big and I lost the angle, but I could see a slight shooting lane, so I took a shot with my right foot, and unusually, the ball went exactly where I intended. Usually, it doesn't go where I want, but today it went where I aimed.

Q: Although the team joined late, is it good that you were able to participate in the match here and achieve results?
A, I am determined to start from here, and I think it is a positive thing to have achieved results like today. However, although I only played for a short time today, there are still physical challenges, so personally, I believe I need to improve my condition further.

Q: I think you played as a second striker today. Do you feel confident that you can perform well in that position?
A, I watched last season's matches, so I have a certain image in my mind. Whether I can perform when I actually step onto the pitch is another matter, so I want to be more aware than usual, keep my head working while observing my surroundings, and focus on giving my all in the position assigned to me.

Q: I believe you are being asked to compete for a position as a key player. What are your thoughts on this?
A, there are only amazing players, so it's quite a big wall, but I want to grow enough to overcome it and become part of the team.

Q: What is necessary for that?
A, it is the quality of the finishing that I usually practice. People around me say this as well, but my quality is still low, so I think it is important to earn the trust of those around me in that regard. I want to focus on each shot, cross, and pass during practice and earn the trust of my teammates. No matter how many times I happen to get results in matches, that alone won't establish my position. Therefore, I want to improve the quality by consistently building up my skills every day.

Q: There is one more match during the camp period, how would you like to spend it?
A, As a team, while accepting today's match result, I believe we must win the upcoming practice match as we enter the league games, and we want to finish the Miyazaki camp on a good note. Also, on a personal level, I want to leave results in the form of goals and assists.

Q: There was a mention of a significant barrier with seniors, but what kind of actions from your seniors are you observing and learning from?
A. When playing as a winger, there are times when my movements overlap with the side back, so I am learning by observing the surrounding players. I believe that by continuing to work on this and aligning our instincts with the other players, we can achieve more effective positioning and movement.

Q: It seems that you are quite teased during practice, and I have the impression that the team's morale really rises when Nishido is around. I believe you have built a good relationship with your teammates.
A, I also participated in last season's camp, so in a way I was familiar with the team and there were many players I already knew. Also, many of the seniors are very kind and the atmosphere is great, so even as a younger member, it's easy for me to talk to them. Because of this kind of atmosphere, I think we've been able to build the current relationship.

Q: I feel that since player Nishido entered the match, there has been more communication on the pitch.
A, speaking of today's match, the other players were also highly motivated and exuded a very positive aura. I think that was part of the reason why there was more communication on the pitch.

<Tsubasa TERAYAMA>

Q: Although the playing time was short, didn't you think you were able to play well?
Although it was a short playing time of 20 minutes, I thought it was a chance to test how much I could do during a difficult period. I believe the coach was also expecting that, and I think I was able to show some of my play, but I also feel I could have done more.

Q: During the times when the team lacked energy, I think there were natural calls for a comeback after players like Terayama entered the game. Were you conscious of that?
<div>A, all the players who entered the pitch together had the mindset to change the flow of the game. Coach Sato told us to change the flow, and that one phrase switched me on. I believe the players who came in during the game intended to change the flow, and that led to a good result. It was important for us to secure the win during the time we were on the field, and I think we played a good match.

Q: How do you want to appeal in the remaining matches before the opening?
A, first of all, I think I need to show my strengths more. We have to accept the issues that came up in today's match both as a team and as individuals, and I believe it is important to focus on both the results and the quality of play in the remaining match against Hiroshima. While showcasing my strengths, I want to play with the awareness of helping the team win.

Q: The competition for positions is intense, isn't it?
A, I think I need to work much harder, and since there are many good players, I want to learn a lot, make it my own, and become someone who can break into the starting lineup.

<Kota TAWARATSUMIDA>

Q: What did you focus on in today's match?
A, since the opening match is approaching, I was conscious of showing my own characteristics and also making decisions to adapt to my teammates.

Q: Is the characteristic dribbling?
A, well. I consider myself a dribbler, so if I don't actively showcase my strengths, my value will diminish. That's why I am especially conscious of it.

Q: Do you feel that you can somewhat compete as a professional through repeated practice?
A, I feel it when I can bring the play into a form that suits my dribbling style, but I struggle when I can't. I want to increase the number of times I can bring it into my own style.

Q: I felt that the way you use your right foot is somewhat similar to that of player Mitoma. Are you conscious of that?
A, that dribbling style has always been my own, so I haven't used it as a reference. I intend to stick to my own style.

Q: I believe that the ability to break away individually is an important aspect required in today's football. Do you have a strong desire to showcase this as a characteristic?
A, yes, I am strong. I think there are few players like that, so I hope to increase my value by making it my own characteristic.

Q: Was there a specific moment that made you start to excel at dribbling?
A. When I was young, I started playing soccer influenced by my older brother who played soccer. Watching his playing style, I wanted to become a player who was also good at dribbling. Among the many soccer players I watched, I admired dribblers like Messi and Neymar, and naturally, I began to focus on dribbling.

Q: With only three weeks left until the opening, what would you like to promote?
A, I want to stand out, be recognized as a player essential to the team, score goals, and demonstrate that I can help the team win.

Q: Are you participating in Nagatomo's school?
Yes, I am participating. I am learning from player Nagatomo about how to use the lower body.

Q: What is the environment like for learning from player Nagatomo?
A, I am very happy. I think the environment where I can learn from players who have competed on the world stage is wonderful.

Q: I think there is a possibility of pairing on the same side, have you received any advice?
A, understands my characteristics, encourages me to take the initiative, and creates an environment that makes it easy to play.
