INTERVIEW2022.2.16

Interview with Shuto ABE

Q: How is the team's preparation for the opening?
As the opening approaches, the team's atmosphere and condition are gradually improving. This season, we are playing a different style of soccer from last season, and everyone is focused on listening to the coach's instructions. We have to express ourselves on the pitch during the game, but everyone is in a good mood and our motivation is rising towards the opening.

Q: Has there been progress in unifying the team's mindset as a whole?
A, We have also had several practice matches, but it is important to instill the tactical intent in ourselves and unify everyone's thoughts. I think we are gradually coming together through practice and practice matches. I don't know how well we can perform on the pitch in the opening match, but I want us all to come together and do our best.

Q, When holding the ball and calming down during the game, and when moving the ball quickly and attacking, the unity of the team is the key.
A, It is important to have possession for the purpose of scoring goals, not just for possession. I think everyone has a common understanding of that. On the other hand, if the space behind the FW is open, we will aim for it first, and I think everyone is able to play while thinking not to be too obsessed with possession.

Q, What do you think about the balance between positional play and covering a wide range of the pitch for player Abe himself?
A, while showcasing my own strengths and playing the positional play that Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA demands, I also need to play for the team rather than for myself. I hope to bring out my own characteristics while fulfilling the role required by the team.

Q, Towards the opening match against Kawasaki Frontale.
A, they were the opponents we couldn't beat last season, and it's also the Tama River Clasico, so we're really motivated. It's also the opening match for the entire J-League, so we want to maintain a high level of motivation and play well.
