INTERVIEW2022.2.22

Interview with Takuya AOKI

Q: After the opening match, which is greater, the challenges or the sense of achievement?
A, first of all, we didn't start the match well. Personally, I have a strong desire to correct that. I wanted to settle the match more. I was conscious about entering the match, but there were parts, including the formation, that didn't fully communicate to everyone, and I think that might be why it didn't go well.

Q: During the start of the match, were there frequent calls for adjustments?
I was able to talk, but in the end, I think the timing when I could clearly make corrections was when the play was interrupted.

Q: Has Aoki ever talked about anything to those around him?
I called out positions such as A and formations. I'm not sure if it was smooth, but since then, it has improved quite a bit and we have been able to move the ball better.

Q: I think the tempo picked up in the second half, how was it for you?
A, both the offense and defense were coordinated, and I think there were more good moments as we progressed the game while moving the ball.

Q: I think we created quite a few chances.
A, in that regard, I felt a sense of achievement.

Q: Was this a match where we could clearly establish a direction for change by making corrections here?
A, I think the developments will change in the upcoming matches, but I believe we are moving in a good direction. That is good to hear.

Q: Are there any negative feelings regarding the result of the defeat?
Personally, I do have some thoughts. The first 15 minutes were a match where it wouldn't have been surprising if the opponent had won. However, after that, I believe it was mostly our time. In that sense, I think it was a match where we needed to secure at least 1 point, if not 3 points.

Q: Was there a gap between what you have been working on in practice since the start and your actual style during the matches? Were you able to bridge that gap during the games?
Well, it's about half and half. There were some good moments. However, as I have been saying since the camp, regarding my position, I have been told that the game can be decided by the first play, so I have a strong impression of not being able to control it at the start.

Q: What will you be working on for the next match?
A, the start of the match is a personal challenge for me, and I think it is also a challenge for the team.
