Interview with Ryoya OGAWA

Q: Looking back at the match against Kawasaki Frontale, it seemed that as time passed, the initial chaos settled down. How was it throughout the 90 minutes?
Although we lost, I believe we were able to show at least some of what we wanted to do. The players who played also felt fulfilled and had a sense of achievement.

Q: We surpassed Kawasaki in ball possession rate.
In the first 15 minutes, we let the opponent take control, but after that, we dominated possession and had several opportunities to get in front of the goal. We had more shots and chances than Tokyo, and it’s even more frustrating because the performance was good. I believe we need to convert this into results.

Q: During the preseason camp, there were comments that it takes time for the new soccer style to take hold. I think there were some concerns, but did you feel that you were able to develop your own style of soccer?
A, Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA also mentioned that it takes time for a new style to take hold. He expected it to be difficult at the start of the season, but I believe we were able to play the football we wanted more than we thought. Starting with the new system, I think what we have done over the past month has been correct.

Q: The position of the full-back requires frequent adjustments in positioning while observing the movements of wingers and midfielders. Were you able to play smoothly?
A, I think that not only staying wide but also positioning myself inside allowed for fluidity during the match, and there were moments when I received the ball and broke through Kawasaki's press. In terms of carrying the ball, I believe that both myself and Kensuke NAGAI were able to smoothly circulate the ball while changing positions.

Q: We want to carry forward the good feelings into the next match, right?
A, I believe we must not forget the image of the opening match and continue to play our football in the next game.
