2023 CAMP INTERVIEW DAY6

[Player Comments]

Q: What did you focus on during your first match?
A, personally, I focused on intensity. Even in practice matches, we were determined to win and in team meetings, there were discussions about winning the current game rather than aiming for the championship. In both the team's red and white scrimmage and in official matches, we cannot win without intensity. If we can win in that aspect, I believe we can naturally play with a good rhythm in both offense and defense. Since we have many players with high abilities, I didn't think too much about fitting into the team, but rather thought that if we don't lose in intensity, we can enter the game well.

Q, Was there any sense of accomplishment against the local university students, or did you just focus on your own strength regardless of that?
A, regardless of the opponent, right? Whether it's a university team or a J1 team, if we don't lose in terms of intensity, we can win and naturally play in our own rhythm, both in attack and defense. There are many areas that need to be fixed, but personally, I hope to not lose there and move forward.

Q, Although it may have just started, the priority may be low, but how was the smoothness of the position changes between players?
A, I have a pretty good grasp on who is what type of player and what kind of play they like in that area. I want to adjust to that person's liking and have the players around me adjust to my liking as well. Also, since I came from Tosu, I don't want to change what I've been doing. I want to continue doing what I did in Tosu in Tokyo as well.

Q, and the similar style is alive.
A, it's big there. The formation is also like that, and I do similar things in Tokyo as I did in Tosu for a year, so it's one of the training menus and there are many parts that haven't changed much even though I transferred.

Q, is the speed of assimilation due to experience?
A, no, at first I was also shy (laughs). It's difficult to be proactive at first, but everyone welcomes new players and talks to them, so I have to talk to them because I'm one of the older players on this team. Even in practice, I try to talk to them if something happens, and I'm conscious of speaking more and more even if they are younger players.

Q, I was talking to Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA yesterday or the day before. If it's not a problem, could you tell me what you talked about?
A, it was not about soccer, it was a silly story (lol).

Q: Have you been asked for anything by the coach so far?
A, There is nothing in particular, but I understand what is being said at the team meeting and what kind of soccer we want to play, so I think it's important for me to be proactive. Well, I just want Tokyo to win anyway.

<Kuryu MATSUKI>
Q, This was your first game of the season, what were you conscious of when entering the game?
It was a match in a situation where everyone was tired, but we approached the game by rebuilding the base that we had built up last season and communicating a lot.

Q, did you put it out in a good form?
A, We are trying while not everyone is able to improve their condition, but I think we were able to do what we intended in the attacking area.

Q, Yesterday, Nagatomo said he wanted to be conscious of the strength of the ball again when he joined. How do you feel about that?
A, what is required of an inside half is the strength in ball battles and the intensity and movement in all aspects. I think it is important for both the team and the individual to improve in these areas.

Q, I think there are players who are role models, especially for players in their first year as professionals, this season. Many players mentioned Matsuki's name at the new system announcement press conference, what do you think about becoming an aspiring presence?
A, Last season, there were times when I was able to play freely as a first-year player, but this season, with the arrival of underclassmen, I also need to set a good example. I have a good sense of urgency, so I hope to convey it to the underclassmen in a positive way.

Q, A first-year player was grateful when Matsuki spoke to them. Is there anything you are consciously aware of?
A, I am not consciously aware of it, but since I am still a young player, I hope to build relationships with others by communicating and discussing things outside of soccer as well.

Q, it seemed like you played with a high intensity today as well. How would you evaluate your performance today?
A, my goal for this season is to score and assist, so I couldn't score today, but I tried to be involved in the ball while focusing on the front and connecting as a team.

Q, How was the feeling of working as a unit with the surrounding players, as there were many opportunities to communicate with them?
There are also new players joining, so we need to adjust before the first match against Urawa Reds in order to be ready. I think we can have a good competition while keeping a positive image.

Q, Last season's start was a bit of a struggle, but this season we have a solid foundation to build upon. However, do you think we still need to make a final push before the opening?
A, We need to aim for a quality higher than last season, and last season was not a good ranking, so we want to tighten our focus during this camp and aim for a higher ranking.

<Teruhito NAKAGAWA>
Q, please review the first international game in Tokyo.
A, My physical condition is still not good, and it was my first game, so while communicating, I was talking about how to start moving and how to position myself. I think it was good that we were able to score one point as a result. I hope to improve my condition even more in the future.

Q, as expected, we also saw some great plays.
A, no, not yet. Marinos had a game against Roma until November 28th, so I had a short break and rested. There are differences in condition between me and everyone else. It's still early. I hope I can make a difference in terms of quality.

Q, there will be several practice matches from now on, but what aspects do you want to improve as a team?
First of all, it is said that one of the challenges of the second year of the Albert regime is how to move the ball in the opponent's territory and how to score from there. So, it's about how to attack that area. If I can give advice and convey how to break through, I think we can play enjoyable soccer and score more goals. So, I want to focus on that in the remaining 6 games.

Q, he said he didn't have many acquaintances, but it seems like his "style" has been fully unleashed during the camp.
A, on the first day, I was quiet in Kodaira, Tokyo (laughs), and I was doing it while looking around. When I started playing soccer in camp, I was able to get along with everyone, so I think soccer is wonderful, and I think everyone accepted me. There are still some kids from the academy that I haven't talked to yet, but I think I'm getting along pretty well... maybe... (laughs).

Q: Do you feel any differences in what is expected of you as a winger between Marinos and Tokyo?
A, in today's game, Leandro on the opposite side tended to take a relatively central position, so I think that was the difference. There is a certain fluidity, or rather, the purpose is to create movement, so there are also parts where we are utilizing the players' characteristics. We don't always have the wide players stretched out, and we were conscious of moving while watching the positioning of our teammates and taking good positions.

Q, do you have any sense of accomplishment that you were able to be aware of?
A, while doing things like getting inside and going to the opposite side, I was doing it while exploring and thinking "what kind of feeling is this?"

Q, it seemed like the team was able to have good rotation and fluidity.
A, When attacking, I feel like I have a good feeling and a good sense of distance, and if I can time my movements to get behind the defense, I think I can invade the opponent's goal area and I think we can raise the quality of our numbers and tactics, which is a good feeling for our first game.

Q, Marinos had a strong attacking force with players who could attack from anywhere and aim for the goal. Do you want to have that kind of attack in Tokyo as well?
Scoring and winning is the charm of football, and by doing so, the number of spectators will increase and they will become interested. I think that if we win the championship, Tokyo will also become more exciting. If the team in the capital Tokyo does not become exciting, the football world will not become exciting either, so we want to play an attractive and attacking football by scoring.

Q, I think you have had several experiences of transfer, but it seemed that you were playing with less pressure in a good way. Is there any place where your experience is being utilized, including adjustments?
A, honestly, there are times when my body doesn't move, but first I checked the feeling of the game and the touch of the ball, and there was also a part where I controlled myself so as not to get injured. Also, the fact that the opponent was a college student played a role. It's a situation where I'm doing it while focusing on my senses and my body. I was able to do it with a relaxed feeling.

Q: Did you have a conversation with Nagatomo when he joined the team?
A, I haven't had a deep conversation yet, but it seems like you're talking about me (laughs). From now on, I want to communicate and absorb Yuto's good points. He's teasing me or something.

<Tsubasa TERAYAMA>
Q, How was it to play in an international match for the first time as a professional?
It was good to be able to play in the game among many players who started in the last season. I was honestly happy, but I felt it was tough based on today's performance. I want to absorb the skills of senior player Keigo HIGASHI and become a central figure there.

Q, what makes it tough?
A, I felt the speed and quality were inferior compared to other players, so I thought I still need to work on those aspects before I can step onto the pitch.

Q, how was it playing as an anchor and inside half?
When playing as an anchor or inside half, the requirements change, so what needs to be done is clear within the team. Whether as an anchor or inside half, I played while sticking to what is required of me and what I should do.

Q, what kind of play do you want to continue? Is it attacking by entering the goal area, physical activity, or defense?
A, I was supposed to be more involved with the ball even as an anchor, and my teammates should have moved a little more, and there were not enough continuous movements such as using my teammates to hit and receive the ball again. I was also told by player Watanabe, but there were some parts where my positioning was still bad, so I would like to fix that.

Q, do you communicate with the players often?
A, During the game, there are many players who talk to me, so I go to listen to them after the game. I think it will be really important from now on to know where and when to get involved, so I need to communicate. My strengths haven't been conveyed to my teammates yet because I haven't communicated with them, and I don't think they understand how I play yet. So, in order to showcase myself, I want to actively talk and communicate with them.

Q, when I watched the game again, I noticed that you have a good sense of securing your field of vision. Are you confident in that aspect?
A, I was able to do side changes from the anchor position compared to high school from university, but although I was able to do it at the university level, it was slow when it became the top level, so I think that the speed feeling there is not enough for myself. However, I want to be able to keep up with the speed feeling without losing my strengths.

<Koki TSUKAGAWA player>
Q, This was your first real match, how was it to play under the guidance of coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA in his second year, after understanding his style of soccer?
A, the team has become more capable and the coach himself says that the team is moving in a better state than in the first year, so I hope to raise my condition so as not to fall behind there.

Q, how is your current condition?
A, we still have a long way to go, so we want to work hard from here and create a good state, and we want to value each day's practice.

Q, what are the parts that you were able to coordinate with others during the game?
A, I think we were able to play soccer by holding onto the ball we have been playing with so far and taking the lead. From now on, I hope we can improve the quality of our plays in front of the goal and our final passes.

Q, What did you try in today's match?
A, In today's match, we focused on pressing from the front and being aware of our movement in order to improve our condition. I think we were able to run both in attack and defense, and now we just need to work on our ball control and fine-tune our coordination with our teammates. I hope we can do that well.

Q, In the future, I think there will be various players to play with, but what do you want to be conscious of when playing?
A, no matter who I play with, I think Tsukagawa is the best partner, so I want to play with a good combination with anyone and bring out the strengths of the players I play with.

<Adailton>
Q, how was your condition?
A, I have been moving my body since I was in Brazil, and of course I have been moving it since I came to Japan. I think my condition is gradually improving, and the season is starting, but I want to be able to face it in an even better condition.

Q, Did you have any conscious plays when you received the ball from the side and boldly headed towards the goal during the game?
A, I think everyone knows that my style is the team's style since last season, so I want to make use of my strengths and continue to improve. It's just the beginning, so I think both myself and the team need to make adjustments and raise our level even more.

Q: How was the coordination in the front line during the match?
I think it's not just about the three of us, but also about everyone's relationship. I think everyone understands the soccer that the coach is looking for, but I feel that we can deepen our cooperation even more.

Q: As we continue with practice matches, please tell us about your goals for the camp.
A, as this is the first practice match of the season, we will continue to have practice matches. I think we need to step up our training, but first we need to make sure we don't get injured. Within that, we need to prepare well for the opening and in the end, it's just up to the coach to choose the team.

Naoki KUMATA

How do you look back on your two goals?

It wasn't a flashy goal, but I was able to calmly make a 1-on-1 decision by moving from myself and it was good that I was able to make a firm decision in front of the goal. However, there were also 2 or 3 other opportunities, so I want to focus on those areas.

Q, there were also scenes where it seemed like the third goal could be scored.
A, I strained too hard. I wish I had been able to see the goalkeeper and shoot.

Q, Did you feel confident in your coordination with your teammates, as you appeared in many crucial scenes?
A, If we can score with one chance, I think that will build trust and lead to more good balls and opportunities. So, I want to score more points.

Q, In your first year, did you feel a significant difference in physical strength?
A, we are not losing in terms of simple physical aspects. The strength of the lower body throughout one game is still not enough. Personally, I haven't been able to do lower body muscle training and it's not yet finished, so I want to train my lower body from now on.

Q: What are you conscious of in your current position?
A, as it is the position of the one top, I have to look at the surrounding players and see where the openings are, and I have to increase the number of times I look because I have to adjust my movements.

Q: What do you want to ask the players around you?
A, honestly, I want to increase the movement of the players around me, so that they can start moving and I can use the space that is created, and also increase the use of space by the players around me.

Q: Do you want to make requests during future matches?
A, yes. In front of the goal, I think any form is good for me, so I want to take a position where I can score with one touch against crosses. I am good at scoring from crosses, so I want to make detailed movements towards that area.

Q, Is the goal of starting lineup still unchanged throughout these past few days?
A, you are unshakable. My goal is not to be on the bench, but to aim for the starting lineup. My goal is not to come off the bench, so I am setting the goal of starting in the opening game as my top priority.

I initially thought it was a big goal for a rookie, but through the interview, I realized that it wasn't a big goal at all and that I really am aiming for it.
A, I scored in today's game, but the coach told me that I could have scored more and that I need to score more, so I really want to strive for the weight of one point.

Q, Post-play can be difficult for players who have come up from the academy, but I think they are able to handle it well through practice and using their bodies effectively. How do you feel about it?
A, you can do things like dropping the ball with one touch in front of the goal, but there are still areas where you need to improve, such as being able to receive the ball from behind and then being able to score when you become free in front. So, I want to learn more about receiving the ball not just in front of the goal, but also in the midfield.

Q: Do you want to continue to focus on scoring goals in actual games?
A, I have to make a decision, so in my mind, no matter what kind of game it is, whether it's a red and white game, I have to leave results and it will be difficult to start, so first of all, I want to seek my own results.
