4/12 Soma ANZAI 2025 Season Joining Confirmation Interview

Q: Please tell us about the circumstances leading up to your joining.
I participated in the pre-season camp and had a lot of time to think over the next two months. During that time, my desire to challenge myself in Tokyo grew stronger, and I decided to join for the 2025 season.

Q: Since you will be joining after two seasons, there may be changes within the team. What has the club communicated to you regarding this?
A, my strength is being able to play in various positions. Before deciding to join at an early stage, I had many conflicts, but my desire to challenge myself at a high level is very strong. Regarding how I will be utilized, I will do my best to consistently be involved in matches in the given position.

Q: Please tell us the reason you chose Tokyo among various paths.
I participated in the camp, and I felt that it resonated with me. I believe that by making this decision at this timing, it will be easier to balance soccer and studies at a club in Tokyo. It was a club in Tokyo where I could translate my feelings into actions, and where various intentions of mine aligned.

Q: I have the impression that there were many high-quality players in FC Tokyo U-15 Fukagawa, where Anzai was enrolled at the time.
Yes, that's right. I had the impression that there were many players with high individual abilities. The player Tomoyuki Aoki, who played alongside me, scored many goals in the 35th All Japan U-15 Football Championship and also participated in national team activities. Including other players, there were many players with high individual abilities.

Q: Could you tell us again about the characteristics of your play?
I don't have any outstanding abilities, but my strength lies in my consistent performance in every aspect of the game and my fighting spirit, especially in one-on-one situations.

Q: Please tell us about the type of player you aspire to be.
I want to become a player who can lead the team to victory. I want to ignite the feelings of those who watch with my play. I hope to deliver courage and vitality.

Q: Please tell us about fighting in the same uniform as Kuryu MATSUKI (since high school).
I watched Matsuki's performance during his university days as well. However, I have a strong feeling of freshness about being able to play soccer with the "new Kuryu MATSUKI."

Q: I believe you must have felt regret about not being able to be promoted to FC Tokyo U-18 yourself, Anzai player.
With that frustrating feeling, I advanced to high school. I was determined to aim even higher from here. I believe that frustration became the fuel for my growth.

Q: It was refreshing to see you play as a full-back during the camp.
During my time at FC Tokyo U-15, I also played as a side back, and I started as a side back in the Kanto University Soccer League at Waseda University. I see the side back position as one option for me as an individual.

Q: Do you have a strong desire to play as a specially designated player by the JFA and J-League?
A, that's right. I genuinely want to break into the match roster, and that's one of the reasons I decided to join at this point. I want to actively showcase my abilities and get involved in matches as soon as possible.

Q: There are players like Masato MORISHIGE and Yuto NAGATOMO who have experienced the World Cup. What do you want to learn from these experienced players?
It is valuable to be able to play alongside players who have fought representing Japan. I want to absorb the opinions they share based on their experiences and make them my own.

Q: What position do you think player Anzai will play?
I believe my main position will be as a full-back. I have also experienced playing as an inside half and a winger, and at Waseda University, I have played as a side half as well. I want to keep my past experiences as options.

Q: Is it good to have an image of multiplayer?
A, I am not bad at receiving the ball in central positions; I want to receive it in the middle and distribute the ball.
