The "signboard" of the Japan national team has changed its awareness
The young guardian has grown from youth to adulthood
GK 41 Taishi Brandon NOZAWA
A special content introducing all the blue and red warriors challenging the 2024 season. What are the players, who are about to start the season, thinking and what determination are they bringing into the year? The stories of the players, who hold in their hearts their love for the club, their thirst for titles, their aspirations for success, and the roles they must fulfill──. What awaited Taishi Brandon NOZAWA, who returned last season after two years of training, was a rapid change that left even him bewildered. Returning from a loan, securing a regular spot in Tokyo, and being selected for the Japan national team for the first time. What did the young guardian feel during this process, and how has he evolved? We followed his current state as he raises his awareness, saying, "If I aim for higher, I must change my daily routine."

After finishing the battle at the AFC Asian Cup, the young guardian's expression upon returning to Kodaira was refreshing. Although he did not have the opportunity to stand on the pitch wearing the Rising Sun flag, he joined the team greatly inspired by the top-level players who play for the Japan national team.
"I feel good both physically and mentally. There was some frustration from not being able to play due to a minor injury, but being able to train with Japan's top players made me realize that I need to do more. It was a moment that made me think, 'If I want to aim higher, I need to change my daily routine.'"
Last season was a whirlwind of activity. I returned from a two-year developmental loan to Iwate Grulla Morioka before the season started. Shortly after making my J1 league debut in the second half of the season, I quickly secured my position and ended the season with a breakthrough, followed by a big surprise in December when I was called up to the Japan national team for the first time. I participated in the year-end training camp and the New Year's Day match against Thailand, and then I was selected for the AFC Asian Cup squad to go to Qatar. There was hardly any time to rest as I rushed through it all. Initially, I felt some confusion due to the rapid changes, but now I am organized and ready to fight carrying the 'banner' of the Japan national team.
"Last season was a year full of changes, and at first, I was surprised myself, but I had time to sort things out in Qatar, and I finally think I've caught up with those changes. I want to continue doing what I need to do without wavering."
The goal of what we must do is none other than winning a title in Tokyo. Last season, I consistently expressed my biggest goal since I started playing in matches: "Until now, I had been thinking about what I could do while saying I wanted to win a title, but now I have a clear intention to play in matches and help us win."
The 21-year-old who experienced a rich month has transformed from a youth to an adult after his days in Qatar. With the goal entrusted to number 41, Tokyo can feel at ease. There is a level of composure and confidence in this season's ambitions that makes you feel that way.
