What were their thoughts and feelings during the season? Confidence, progress, challenges, joy, and regret... Each player will reflect on their battles this season in their own words.
Henrique TREVISAN, who has been the stronghold of the final line with his aerial strength and speed. He has supported the attacking team from the back and has been playing an active role as a defensive key player since the beginning of this season, utilizing his natural abilities. However, he has been plagued by injuries since June and has been out for a long time. What kind of thoughts did he have while enduring these days?
Henrique TREVISAN spoke with a sad look in his eyes.
"There are mountains and valleys in a long season, you know."
In his third year since joining, this season has seen a smooth start for both himself and the team from the opening game.
However, in the J1 Meiji Yasuda League Sec. 18 match against Júbilo Iwata on June 16th, he injured his left thigh and was forced to withdraw from the game. He was absent from the game for about 2 months. During that time, the team continued to struggle and he said, "I felt disappointed and frustrated."
"No one wants to get injured. But because it's soccer, it can't be helped. Still, I just kept working day by day to recover from my injury and return to the team."
After finally returning to the starting lineup in the September 14th match against Nagoya Grampus in the 30th round, he was substituted due to injury in that match. He was forced to be absent for another two months.
"Looking back on this season, I think I was able to contribute to the team with playing time in the early stages of the season, and I felt confident in my performance. However, I suffered a major injury and couldn't play for a while. It was tough to get injured again shortly after returning. I haven't been able to play in most of the second half of the season. It required patience, but I think it was a season where I never gave up and aimed to return to the game."
Still, in his fourth year in Japan, the defender has done everything he can. He has a past of fighting together with Everton Gaudino, who joined this summer, in Brazil's second division Ponte Preta. They reunited in Japan, far from their home country, and have supported each other on and off the pitch.
"I really love this country and I am sincerely happy to be able to play in Japan. The environment in Japan is also wonderful, and it is very easy to work at this club, so I hope to continue playing in Japan in the future. Of course, there are differences in language, customs, and culture between our country and Japan. I have told Ewerton many good things about Japan and given him advice. I still lack experience and confidence, but I have tried to help him in my own way."
Patience was also necessary. "There are good times and bad times. Nevertheless, players only prepare to play in the game." Henrique, who has experienced ups and downs, took a deep breath and lifted his head.
"Because we are a club of this size. It is expected that we will compete for titles and be involved in that fight. Of course, I want to play in intense matches and in the midst of heat. I'm sure those kinds of matches will get the fans and supporters fired up. It will surely create a good atmosphere. However, unfortunately, we were not able to play many of those games this season. As players, we all want to play in those kinds of places. We will continue to work hard to be able to perform well in those matches."
The shadow disappeared from his expression, and he was just looking straight ahead.
