INTERVIEW2022.2.01

Interview with Keita YAMASHITA

Q: The camp is nearing its end, and the opening is approaching. How would you like to use the time from here on?
Ultimately, the coach will decide the final members, so I believe I just need to prepare to be at 100% by the opening match.

Q: What is your approach to positional play?
I believe that trying to meet what the coach is asking for is the most important thing, and if errors occur, we should correct them and improve continuously. If we are not able to implement the football that is being requested, I think the team will not perform well, so it is important for everyone to move forward in the same direction.

Q: What do you feel is expected of you, player Yamashita?
I think it's about scoring goals and taking them away. It's really about how much work you can do inside the box, and in addition to that, I want to delve deeper into the transition between offense and defense, as well as the technical aspects of passing and shooting.

Q: In training, we are working on transitions, especially high pressing from the front after losing the ball, and I believe forwards play a very important role in that.
A, the approach is different, but we have always been doing high pressing and transitions. My mind is clear, but the way we transition, regain possession, and our tactical defending methods are slightly different, so I want to thoroughly integrate these changes.

Q: As a forward, will Yamashita adjust to his teammates, or will they learn his characteristics and adapt to him?
A, I think it's both. Compared to when we started the camp, my shooting feel has improved, but there are limits when it's just me, so I believe it's also important to demand more from my teammates.

Q: There are two more practice matches during the camp. How do you want to approach them?
As the coach says, it's about having a winner's mentality and being focused on competition. Additionally, I believe this is a place where we should continuously try to build on what we've established, so I want everyone to try without being passive.
