[Player and Coach Comments]
Approaching the first match of the ACL group stage with a fighting spirit in the away game!
Tokyo is without Ha DAESUNG. Therefore, the formation has Tokunaga on the right and Komano on the left in defense. In midfield, Hashimoto and Yonemoto form a double pivot, with Mizunuma and Azuma on both sides. Abe and Maeda are the two forwards. Jeonbuk has a 4-3-3 formation with MF Patal serving as the anchor.
The match starts with a kickoff from Jeonbuk. At the beginning, they approach the game with focus and show a fighting spirit, but a back-and-forth battle continues.
16 minutes: Higashi broke through the front line, and Maeda, who dropped back to receive, made a through pass. This was cut off, but Mizunuma followed up, and Higashi advanced to a high position on the right front line to deliver a cross. Maeda was closing in at the near post, and Abe followed from the center, but they were thwarted by the tough defense of Jeonbuk's defenders.
21 minutes: Komano is forced to substitute due to an injury... As a result, Yukino comes in as a defensive midfielder. Hashimoto moves to right back. Tokunaga shifts to the left.
Kohno makes his official match debut in Tokyo after returning last season.
26 minutes: Next, Jeonbuk FW Ricardo Lopes charged into the goal area, but just before the decisive shot, Tokyo DF managed to escape to a right corner kick.
35 minutes have passed: We started the match well, but we are unable to finish in front of Jeonbuk's intense defense. After Komano's accident, we gradually lost our pressing, and during this period, we tend to be pushed back by Jeonbuk.
39 minutes: A mistake occurred while trying to launch an attack from our own half, and the ball was taken by Jeonbuk. We couldn't stop the passing play centered around the central FW Ricardo Lopez. The Tokyo defense was drawn in, allowing the play to spread to the left area. Jeonbuk FW Ko Mu-yeol's shot went over Akimoto's outstretched hand and into the far net... We conceded the first goal as it was surely converted.
Fought until the end showing our spirit, but lost 1-2.
47 minutes: A counterattack is initiated, with Mizunuma moving to the right flank. Abe, who has moved up, sends a superb cross between the goalkeeper and the DF. Yonemoto, who rushed in, just missed it, but showed persistence, and the ball went to Higashi on the outside. Higashi, timing his move to evade the DF, took a decisive shot, but... it was blocked by a save...
49 minutes: Jeonbuk's FW Ko Mu-yeol breaks through on the left flank and crosses from a high position into the right area. DF Kim jumps into the chance, creating a decisive opportunity, but the shot goes wide of the target.
56 minutes: Abe received a right throw-in and dropped it with one touch, then Yonemoto ran in and advanced with a speedy dribble. He evaded the opposing defender right outside the area and took a decisive shot, but... it just went over the bar...
61 minutes: From a left throw-in, Yukino in the front line sent it to the center, and Hashimoto, who surged in from the right, took a powerful shot. It was blocked by the GK, but a left corner kick was earned.
However, they were unable to finish from this corner kick, leading to a counterattack by Jeonbuk.
77 minutes: Hashimoto's foul is judged as a yellow card, giving Jeonbuk a free kick.
Nathan BURNS comes in for Mizunuma.
78 minutes: Jeonbuk - from the left side of the area, a kick was sent in, and the forward Kim Shin-wook connected with a powerful header despite a low position. It was on target, but Akimoto made a great save! The loose ball spilled in front of Jeonbuk forward Lee Dong-gook, but he couldn't react in time, and the shot went wide of the goal.
83 minutes: Pressured by Jeonbuk, FW Kim Shin-wook's vertical pass hits Tokyo DF and becomes loose in the area. Tokyo fails to react to this. In the right area, MF Lee Jae-sung makes a last pass to FW Lee Dong-gook, who is free on the left. Lee Dong-gook skillfully controls the ball, sliding past Tokyo DF, and shoots with his right foot. A brilliant shot that finds the target, and Tokyo concedes the second goal...
87 minutes: Picking up the second ball and quickly moving it forward, Abe, after a one-two with Maeda, accelerates to the front line! Breaking into the left area, he controls the shot and sinks it into the net for a GOAL!!
Additional time: The team is under a wave of attacks in front of the goal, but the defense, led by Akimoto, puts their bodies on the line and does not allow the third goal!
There were moments when they faced continuous attacks, but everyone threw themselves to withstand it. They lost the first match of the ACL group stage 1-2.
