A match where we want a victory to connect to the opening
A light rain falls at Fukuoka's Level-5 Stadium as we welcome the preseason match.
Tokyo's newly joined forward Maeda starts this season. He pairs with Muto in a two-top formation, while Kono plays just behind them. Kajiyama is positioned as the anchor, and Canini is utilized as a center-back. The inside halves are filled by Yonemoto and Mita in this formation.
The members who also participated in the morning practice match (vs Fukuoka University) are on the bench. Fukuoka appears to be a 3-6-2 on the roster, but is it a 4-4-2 with MF Kamekawa playing as left back?
A preseason match where we want to secure a victory to build confidence and connect it to a good start.
The match started at 14:03 with a kickoff from Fukuoka.
In the 9th minute of the match, Ota on the left side measured the timing and delivered a cross. After the ball flowed to the right, he regained possession and crossed again. Maeda ran into the goal area to capitalize on the ball that was spilled by the opposing GK, but only managed to earn a corner kick.
In the 11th minute, there was a period of attack centered around set plays. From Ota's left corner kick, Morishige aimed for the goal with a high header, but it went wide. In the 17th minute, Muto passed to Ota from the left flank, delivering a low cross. Maeda, who had moved to the center, managed to push it in with his body, GOAL!! They take the lead!
In the 24th minute, the opponent dribbled in from the left side and connected to the center, aiming from the central area to the left corner, but Mita blocked the shot. The loose ball was connected, and again a shot was taken from the left forward, but it went over the goal. Furthermore, in the 31st minute, a play where Yonemoto tried to take the ball was ruled a foul. A free kick was awarded to Fukuoka in the Tokyo half. From a distance, Fukuoka's midfielder Sueyoshi aimed directly, but it went over the bar.
In the 37th minute, Yonemoto stole the ball on the left side of the midfield, and Kono followed up to pass to Kajiyama. However, the pass from Kajiyama to Canini in the center was slightly short. Fukuoka FW Sakata pressured him, and Canini's trap was intercepted by the opposing FW Hirai, who advanced with a dribble.
A one-on-one situation was created with Gonda, but... FW Hirai's shot went wide to the left, avoiding the crisis...
In the first half, the new addition, Maeda, scored a goal, leading to a 1-0 halftime score.
Muto jumped in from Ota's cross, scoring a brilliant goal for a 2-0 victory!
In the second half, at the 50-minute mark, Tokyo's attack. Ota's long cross did not reach Maeda. Mita tried to capitalize on the opponent's DF's mistake, but the opponent's GK caught it first. At the 58-minute mark, there was a free kick from the opponent near the right side of Tokyo's area. MF Suzuki sent it to the far post, and DF Hamada jumped in, but the ball was barely touched and went out of bounds.
In the 62nd minute, a fast attack was launched, Mori-shige passed to Ota who advanced on the left and delivered another cross. In front of the goal, Mutou scored with a low header!! GOAL!! GOAL!!
In the 66th minute, Maeda was substituted for Higashi and Takahashi. Higashi moved to the attacking midfield position. Kono and Muto were positioned up front. Furthermore, in the 76th minute, Ishikawa and Yoshimoto came in. Takahashi and Hanyu formed a double pivot, with Ishikawa and Higashi on the flanks. In the 78th minute, the opponent's left back Kamekawa advanced into the center and made a diagonal through ball to the right area. However, Ota and Yoshimoto responded quickly. The second ball was lost, and this time a left cross was delivered, but Ota cleared it with a header.
In the 88th minute, Maruyama replaced Morishige and took his place as center-back. The match ended 2-0 thanks to the finishing power of forwards Maeda and Muto. This victory marked the first official match of the 2015 season, providing a good start ahead of the J-League opening.

《Maeda》
"(Is this your first goal in Tokyo?)
Until now, I felt that my timing to get into the crosses was a bit late. Today, I was able to enter at the right moment without being late. Ota's crosses are easy to time. I can understand when he is going to cross. Including before the camp, I have been more focused on fitting into the team rather than showcasing myself. It was the same today. I made an effort to play more within the team. I'm glad I was able to score, but what's important is what comes next. I will work hard to improve our coordination and accuracy as we head towards the season opener so that I can score more goals."
《Muto》
"Until now, I haven't felt anxious, but today, being able to score in the atmosphere of an official match makes me feel a bit relieved. I was aiming for the near post from the beginning. In the first half, there were many times when it didn't connect... The pitch was slippery, and there were places where I usually could catch up but couldn't. At halftime, I talked with Ota, who said, 'The pitch is slippery, so it might be better to aim a bit higher,' and then the perfect ball came. It was the best. Running for 90 minutes and working hard on defense without cramping is a good indicator of my condition. I think I can improve from here, and I'm looking forward to that myself. I want to start the season without any injuries.
【Summary of Coach Massimo FICCADENTI's Press Conference】
"With only two weeks left until the league starts, I think it was very important to have a match against a competitive team in J2. It was a meaningful match for us from every perspective. Regarding today's match, in the last 10 to 15 minutes, we made many substitutions, and our performance dropped due to fatigue, but aside from that, the team showed a very high level of play. In particular, we attacked the opponent's penalty area multiple times and created many chances. Our challenge now is to improve our accuracy in the final part. I want to do everything possible to enhance that accuracy from here on out."
[Summary of the Press Conference by Masami IHARA, Coach of Fukuoka]
"FC Tokyo has a very strong lineup in J1, and they are a stable team. They have talent in their attack, and I think their defensive strength is particularly notable. It was a question of how far we could go against such an opponent. Today, we conceded two goals, but I think we were able to execute a certain level of defense that we were aiming for."
We were caught out by two crosses from the side that we were taking care of. In that regard, it was the opponent's attacking precision, and the players who needed to score were able to do so. I think there was some weakness in our defense. However, overall, I believe we were able to demonstrate a certain level of organizational strength and balance as a team.
