Charity match to be held in Matsumoto!

JFL Matsumoto Yamaga FC held a charity match. We asked the Nagano Football Association if it was possible to hold the match at Matsumoto Hirahiroi General Park Stadium (Alwin), where we have played several home games. As a result, we were able to play against Matsumoto Yamaga FC, which is based in Matsumoto City. While the outcome is important, we also want to make this match a way for Tokyo to contribute to the recovery efforts, as the entire Japanese football community is coming together to take action towards rebuilding.

Kono, Yonehara, and Gonda join energetically from the activities of the Japan national team. As coach Okuma says, "We must first show a solid game as a charity match," and we will face it with the current best members. Starting with GK Shioda, DF from the right is Mukuhara, Kono, Morishige, Abe, and at the bottom of the midfield, Kamisato, Kajiyama, and in front of them, Taniyama and Hanyu on the left and right, and the two top players are Hirayama and Suzuki.

Matsumoto Yamaga FC, who was granted J-League associate membership in February last year, finished 7th in the JFL last season and did not get promoted to J2. This year, they have attracted attention by acquiring DF Naoki Matsuda from Yokohama FM. Other J-League experienced players have also joined, and expectations are high for a competitive season. In recent practice matches, they have defeated FC Gifu and have been evenly matched with J-League teams, so it is important for each player to play their best without being passive as a team from Tokyo.

The match started at 2:05pm in Tokyo, at the Alwin stadium where the spring sun was shining but a cold wind was blowing, with a temperature of 7.4℃.

Uesato's powerful shot pierces the net and takes the lead.

A moment of silence is observed before kickoff and the match begins. Due to the poor pitch conditions, the ball is difficult to control and both teams struggle to make it to the goal due to passing errors. In the midfield, the strict press from Matsumoto Yamaga FC prevents effective long passes and the game remains in a stalemate in the early stages. In the 10th minute, Tanihara takes a shot from the center-left, but the opposing goalkeeper punches it away. This is the first shot Tokyo has managed to take in this match.

At 18 minutes, Hayabusa picks up the opponent's DF clear ball and dribbles it. He aims from just outside the area and swings his right foot, but it goes over the bar. After 20 minutes, Tokyo calms down and starts to create attacking opportunities by passing the ball around. Both Mokuhara and Abe make several crosses from big side changes, but they lack accuracy and cannot connect in the middle. However, at 30 minutes, Morishige receives the ball on the left side and makes a big side change to the right side. Uesato cleverly switches places with the opponent's DF and dribbles with the ball, swinging his left foot and scoring a goal in the upper right corner! He scores a spectacular goal in his Tokyo debut game.

With this goal, we completely take control of the flow and set the pace for Tokyo. Tanizawa and Suzuki efficiently score additional points, winning by 4-0

Substitute Gonda for Shioda from the start of the second half. In the 50th minute, Tanizawa heads in a perfect timing to Uchida's cross from the left, but it is saved by the opponent GK. In the following 51st minute, Uesato sends a sharp cross from a left FK to the goal area. MoriShige heads it in, but once again it is saved by the opponent GK. Then the momentum starts to shift towards Matsumoto Yamaga FC. Especially with quick counterattacks after winning the ball, they repeatedly threaten the Tokyo goal. Despite being pushed back, MoriShige and Konno hold their ground and do not allow any free shots.

In the 68th minute, Nakamura was substituted for Hanyu. The formation was changed to push Tanizawa up front. Then in the 75th minute, Tanizawa, who had stayed up front, intercepted the opponent's pass and dribbled up, carefully observing the opponent's GK before shooting with his right foot. He scored a goal to the left and finally added another point. Even after that, Matsumoto Yamaga FC did not give up and continued to attack, but Tokyo countered and threatened the opponent's goal.

From Otake, who came on as a substitute in the 86th minute, to Suzuki on the right side with a clear ball. Starting the dribble from the halfway line, he quickly passed two opponents and scored the third goal with a powerful shot to the top left corner of the goal area. One minute later, Nakamura from the counterattack passed to Hirayama on the left side, who dribbled into the penalty area and made a last pass to the center. Suzuki, who had timed his run perfectly, calmly slotted the ball into the goal with his right foot. In the end, they scored a massive 4 goals and secured the victory.

【Player Comments】《Konno》"Today, many people came to the stadium and gave me various words of encouragement. I am a soccer player and it is my job to give children dreams through soccer. Many children came to watch and I wanted to show them a play that would give them dreams. The content may not have been good, but I think I was able to show that I never give up until the end."

It's really sad that things that used to be taken for granted can no longer be done, and I have to be grateful for being able to play soccer as if it were normal. I want to do what I can do now step by step and find other things I can do besides soccer. (Towards the resumption of the J-League) There were a lot of mistakes and our approach to the ball was weak in the early stages. In order to aim for the championship in J2, we have to thoroughly work on those aspects. However, it's not just about the bad parts, there were also good parts. We still have time until the resumption, so we need to fix the bad parts and improve the good parts."

"Suzuki" "I wanted to play in a way that would excite everyone and I think I was able to show that kind of feeling. That attitude brought out good plays and I think it was because I wanted to show good plays to the fans and supporters who came from far away. In the first half, there were chances that absolutely had to be scored. The opponent's GK came out without hesitation, so the shooting course was gone. I should have gotten closer to the ball and shot earlier. Personally, I think this was a game where I was able to make new discoveries and gain something. I was able to reaffirm my strengths and also reaffirm what kind of play is a threat to the opponent. There were also chances to score a third goal, but there are still many areas to improve on, so I want to make corrections."

[Coach Okuma's press conference summary] "Several players have left the team due to injuries, and we have been training very hard for the restart, which has been tough on our physical condition. In such a situation, there was a difference in performance between players who were doing well and those who were struggling. In the second half, there were players who came on as substitutes and did a decent job, and it was a good result. We need to improve the quality of our play in the attacking third before the opponent's defense loosens up. We will make adjustments towards the restart on the 24th."

(What is the effect of adding player Uesato to the team?) Despite having a knee injury, he played well for the full 90 minutes today. His free kicks, left foot shooting ability, and ability to pass vertically with through balls were things that our team did not have, and he showed glimpses of that in today's game. I was impressed by the fact that he brings something that our team didn't have before. It will be a competition to see if he will be included in the league team in the future, but I think we can look positively at his performance today. He has good defensive qualities, but there are areas to improve such as tough defending and filling spaces and marking players. I have high expectations for him in the future."

[Matsumoto Yamaga FC, Manager Yoshizawa's Press Conference Summary] "First of all, I would like to express my condolences to those who are living in difficult conditions due to the earthquake, and to those who have lost their precious lives. As professional football players, we approached this match with the intention of gathering many people for a charity match and raising funds to be used for reconstruction and a fresh start. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to talk about the game here, but considering that the opening is only three weeks away, playing against a team like FC Tokyo has brought up many challenges and made us realize the differences in scoring opportunities, individual skills, and decision-making speed. Based on this, we need to make good preparations and enter the league match with a strong mindset."

(What was the meaning of adopting 3 back today?) We knew that FC Tokyo was superior to us in terms of individual ability and overall strength, but there was no intention to avoid this by switching to 3 back. As the season begins, we want to decide on the placement and use of players as one style of this season. 3 back is not everything, but we want to consider it as one form."
