[Player and Coach Comments]

The match ended in a draw after being caught up in the second half, but it was a game with valuable takeaways.

The Kagoshima camp, which took place from the 22nd, will conclude with this preseason match. The opponent for this year's first official match is Kyoto Purple SANGA, which is also training in Kagoshima Prefecture. Kyoto is strengthening its team with the aim of returning to J2 in just one year this season. They are a formidable opponent.

Today's formation was the same as the starting lineup from the Oita match the day before yesterday, placing Toda and Suzuki on both sides, and approaching the match with the duo of Lucas and Abe up front. Ahead of the match, Coach Hara stated, "We just need to do what we've been practicing all along. I want you to show the strength you have now. I know there may be fatigue, but I want you to be proactive from the first half and go as far as you can." His enthusiasm for the players to make further appeals during the adjustment phase was palpable.

When the match starts, we apply pressure from the front and go for the ball. Once we have possession, we simply connect the ball to the forward into space. Just four minutes into the match, after a cleared right corner kick, we have a throw-in on the right side. Kaji quickly plays it vertically to Miyazawa, who receives it and delivers a low cross into the center just before the goal line, where Lucas dives in and pushes it into the goal while falling down at the near side. The early opening goal from the new player this season boosts the team's momentum, and they continue to dominate Kyoto. Jean and Fujiyama keep the two top players from Kyoto, Choi and Kurobe, in check. In the midfield, Miyazawa becomes the pivot, utilizing the speed of Suzuki and Toda to shake up the opponent with long balls. In the 36th minute, Miura in the center plays it to Kaji on the right side, who sends a big cross into the center. Abe, waiting at the far side in front of the goal, wins the aerial duel and scores with a header for the second goal. In response, Kyoto tries to counterattack to strike back, but Choi has to be substituted due to injury after the 30th minute of the first half, losing their attacking pivot and failing to create any decisive chances before the half ends.

At halftime, Coach Hara tightened the players again, saying, "Given the performance in the first half, Kyoto will make a comeback. We need to respond to that properly. However, while it's necessary to observe the opponent's situation, we must not let the defensive line drop back too much."

After the start of the second half, Kyoto made two player substitutions and shifted their formation from a three-back to a four-back. This seemed to pay off as Kyoto gradually began to take control of the match. Continuing from the first half, Tokyo also saw players like Toda and Abe, along with Lucas, actively attacking the ball. However, although they managed to win the ball and penetrate towards the goal, they could not convert it into a goal. The match saw back-and-forth exchanges, with both teams having chances, but it was Kyoto that managed to score. In the 72nd minute, a pass from Lucas to Miyazawa was intercepted in the center of the pitch, leading to a counterattack. Atsuta picked up the loose ball and initiated a dribble. He then connected with Tahara, who made a run and shot, bringing the score to 1-2. After scoring, Kyoto regained their momentum, and in the 80th minute, Tomita sent a floating ball to Atsuta, who skillfully delivered a lob behind the defensive line. Kurobe made a run and powerfully kicked it in, equalizing the score. In the remaining 10 minutes, both teams aimed for a winning goal, but neither could score, and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

In terms of the game, we completely dominated the first half, but we ran out of steam in the second half and ended up being caught up. However, Coach Hara reflected, "There were good points and areas for improvement, so there is a lot of motivation for future practice." It seems there are not only points for reflection. Additionally, the full 90-minute participation of Suzuki and Lucas, as well as Kobayashi's return to official matches for the top team after about two years, has greatly increased expectations for the upcoming league matches.

<Lucas's Comment> The shape of the goal wasn't that wonderful, but as a striker, it's important to score. My condition is not yet at 100%, but it is improving. I want to continue practicing and improve my combination and condition.

Miura's comment: It wasn't good to concede two goals to equalize, but I think we're in a good place for the opening match in two weeks. Since the goals we conceded weren't due to being broken down, I want to make corrections from here on.
