[Player/Coach Comments]
"Kosuke OTA"
(It was a difficult game. Looking back on today's match)
"After making it 2-0, we needed to score a third goal and pull away. It was our first game in the Emperor's Cup and the opponent was a college team, so the rhythm was different from usual."
"I think we made the game difficult for ourselves, but we needed to achieve the result of victory today, so it was good that we were able to reach that goal."
(What did you focus on on the pitch from the moment you were caught up until you took the lead?)
"Since the start of the second half wasn't good, we talked about playing stronger in the ball battles. I think we were a little influenced by the different atmosphere of the tournament compared to the league games."
"We should have dominated, but it was a game that made us realize our many challenges, so we want to reflect on it and make corrections."
(For the future)
"Today's win is everything. I want to take the positive from being able to win and use it to have a good fight after the break."
I want to refresh my mind and body and be conscious of building up as a team.
"Masato MORISHIGE"
(As it was the first match of the Emperor's Cup, I expected it to be a difficult game, but looking back on the match)
"The second half was a difficult development.
Other than the start of the second half, I don't think there were many problems."
(What are your thoughts on the game itself, as it was the first practice match since the Meiji game?)
"We were able to win solidly. The first match of the year always has a unique atmosphere, and I don't remember ever winning so easily before."
I think we were able to achieve our main goal of winning today's game, for better or for worse.
(There will be another gap between matches starting from today's match)
"I think we will continue to work on training, including the challenges we faced in the first half, as there will be another gap between matches starting from here.
In the second half, I think our opponents will be cautious of various aspects, so we will have to create something that surpasses that in order to win. We want to make sure we are well prepared for that."
"Summary of Tokyo - Kenta HASEGAWA Coach's Press Conference"
"I am sincerely impressed by the efforts of the Ryukei University Dragons."
After catching up from 0-2, the determination to turn the game around was strongly conveyed.
I think the last 15 minutes made us all feel like we had to do it, including the players on the pitch.
I think the players and staff of Ryukei University did a great job in taking it that far.
On the other hand, we were able to play with our usual tension only in the last 15 minutes today, but other than that, it was a play style that seemed to be sleeping all the time.
In the halftime locker room, the players were saying, "A 2-point difference is dangerous, so let's concentrate and get into the game again in the second half." However, when the game actually started, we couldn't get close, couldn't pick up second balls, and missed a penalty, so I think it was good that we were able to catch up with a 2-point difference. Even if we had won 2-1, I don't think it would have been a game that would lead to the next one, and with our backs against the wall, we were able to play a solid game.
The first match of the Emperor's Cup was difficult, so even though the content was not perfect, we were able to advance to the next round and I think we were able to achieve our initial goal somehow, but I was reminded once again that there is still a lot to do.
"I want to prepare well and continue to prepare so that we can win the next third round as well."
"Q&A"
Why didn't you make a player substitution immediately after being tied at 2 points?
"The opponent also had a lot of momentum, so we were prepared for extra time. Therefore, we couldn't make substitutions easily."
It took some time to determine which FW to replace, and even for the substitution in the midfield, I observed the situation to decide who to keep.
However, I believe that the starting 11 players are strong players. There was also a desire for us to do our best with our own strength.
However, within the remaining 10 minutes, I also had the desire to not go into extra time if possible and to decide the game in 90 minutes, so I made a substitution.
"Summary of Ryu-kei University Dragons Ryugasaki Terochi Katsumasa Coach's Press Conference"
"We were talking about being careful of the opponent's set plays throughout the game, but we ended up conceding the first goal from one of those set plays, and it became a bit of a bad flow."
The second goal was also due to our own mistake, resulting in a 0-2 score in the first half.
At halftime, Sato and Honda in the midfield were feeling restless and unable to play their own game, so we talked about "playing with confidence".
In the second half, those two were able to create a calm relationship, connect the ball, and pick up second balls. I think scoring two points will give the players confidence."
"Q&A"
Q=What is the significance of today's game as the Ryukei University Dragons?
"Normally, the Dragons are fighting in the JFL category."
I believe it would be beneficial to have as many official matches as possible in terms of player development.
This time, being able to participate in the Emperor's Cup and being able to compete against FC Tokyo was a confidence boost for the players. Most of them are second or third year students, but they have dreams of becoming professional soccer players in the future. So even though they may not be able to fully compete against professional players, I think they fought well."
