[Player and Coach Comments]
Masato MORISHIGE
(Please share your honest thoughts now that the match is over)
"I wanted to win. I'm frustrated."
(I think it was a situation of which team would take control, but what about the flow of the match?)
"I don't think there was much difference in team strength up to that point, and as the level increases, the final moments come down to individual abilities. I believe that realizing this again has been a good lesson for both the young players and the team in terms of what we need to do moving forward."
What do you feel was lacking to advance to the top 8?
"In the end, we are being outperformed in individual abilities every time."
I feel that unless we break through there, we won't be able to go up from here.
《Keigo HIGASHI》
It was the team's 3rd challenge.
Everyone fought with all their might, but we couldn't score a point and the opponent scored one. I feel that is the difference. I want to accept this result firmly and move on to the next.
(What do you feel as a captain?)
"I really wanted to play as many matches here as possible."
I am really frustrated right now. As an individual, I truly felt the joy of returning from injury and being able to play in a match, and I don't want to end it with the words 'it was a good experience.' However, I think having this many matches in such an atmosphere during a concentrated event is a rare experience, and we must turn this into a positive moving forward.
The league is still ongoing, and there will also be the Final Round of the Levain Cup after the New Year.
I want to make sure to utilize this experience in the next three matches.
(A word to the fans and supporters)
"I worked hard so that as many people as possible could watch our matches on TV, and I really wanted to win somehow."
I want to show my growth in the last three matches after this experience.
《Go HATANO Player》
(My honest feelings after the match are)
"I feel regret, but I think it's something to be proud of to participate in this tournament where only three teams from Japan can compete and to play on such a stage. This tournament has ended, but we can come back again. There are league matches and the Levain Cup Final Round in Japan. I believe we can only prepare for what comes next."
(Regarding your evaluation after playing all 5 ACL matches)
"There are countless issues to address, but I was able to play with confidence, so I believe I can return home having grown a little. My football career is still long, so I want to make use of what I gained from this tournament in the future."
(What kind of tournament do you feel the ACL is?)
"I learned that it's important to stay focused and fight until the end, as you can be taken out in an instant if you let your guard down. I want to continue to work hard so that I can save the team in the final moments."
《Shuto ABE》
It was a match where we had to win since it was the Final Round.
The motivation before the match was high, and we were able to enter the game with a good atmosphere, but we couldn't win, resulting in a disappointing outcome for both the team and individuals as this tournament came to an end.
(The areas that were lacking)
"We had too few shots, so I think we need to be more proactive in taking shots to score goals. Also, I felt that we need to be more creative in breaking through individually and to cut in deeper to deliver crosses."
(How to connect this experience)
"I think it was very good to experience the ACL in my first year as a professional, and I was able to feel various things in this tournament. With two league matches and the Final Round of the Levain Cup still ahead, I want to bring out the toughness I gained from this tournament and fight on."
《Tokyo - Summary of the Press Conference with Director Kenta HASEGAWA》
I think the players really played wonderfully.
In a situation where scoring a goal was difficult, we were caught off guard by the opponent for just a moment.
I think Renato AUGUSTO created chances by opening up on both sides, and while we responded well, I regret that in that scene we were split vertically and our response in the middle became slightly weak.
After that, I wanted to somehow score a point back.
Still, we were able to participate in this tournament with a wonderful team.
We were once again blocked by the wall of the top 16, but I want to use this experience for the next time and strive to advance beyond the top 16 as FC Tokyo.
(What kind of game plan did you approach with?)
"I wanted to settle it in 90 minutes. We started well in the first half, didn't give the opponent any chances, and I think Tokyo had more opportunities."
I wanted to take the lead first and push through.
(The opponent had strong players in the front line, but after actually facing them)
"As I imagined, Beijing Guoan was a wonderful team."
However, Tokyo was not losing at all.
I think Beijing was a step ahead today in terms of the ability to finish in the final moments.
(I think there was fatigue in the second half)
I believe both teams experienced fatigue.
Both teams have stretched out, leading to a situation where it comes down to which side can 'finish it off.'
I think that time period was the decisive moment. It was also a time of opportunity for us. However, we didn't take a step or two forward. I believe the opponent was better in that regard.
(I think this season has been a difficult one. How do you want to utilize the experiences from this season?)
"It has been a very challenging year for both the football world and everyday life.
It has been a season that has made us think about how to survive, support our lives, and continue playing soccer and sports, something we have never experienced before.
In that season, everyone worked together, pooling their wisdom, to ensure that the entire world could once again engage in soccer and sports.
Thanks to the cooperation of AFC, JFA, and J-League, we were able to play soccer and participate in such a wonderful tournament. I believe that being able to continue playing soccer even in such circumstances will serve as a source of support in our feelings when faced with adversity in life.
Looking back on this tournament, it was truly a wonderful event. I am once again grateful to have been able to participate in this tournament.
(Did the young talented players of the Tokyo Olympic generation gain something significant from this concentrated event?)
I think they gained wonderful experience.
I think there were parts that we were not used to in this kind of tournament in Asia, but I believe there are things we felt while actually playing.
I believe that will lead to next year's Olympics. I want them to grow by using this experience as their nourishment.
