[Player and Coach Comments]
《Kojiro YASUDA》
(You started in the starting lineup, but what was the background to that?)
"I had been participating in practice for a little while, and I was able to play in the second half of the Levain Cup match against Oita. I think I was able to leave something behind there."
During practice, I gradually gained the trust of the players around me, so I think that might have been the reason I became a starter.
(How was your performance as an individual?)
"There were a few moments when I could take on defenders with the ball, but those did not lead to plays that resulted in goals.
There were many mistakes, so that is something we need to build on as a challenge for the future, and I want to become a player who can lead the team to victory in any situation.
(What kind of play do you think will be necessary for you in the future?)
"Today I played as a left side half, and I think it will be necessary to actively take on challenges and work in coordination with other players to move into the center.
Today, there were many scenes where I lost the ball trying to break through on my own, so I want to play in a way that utilizes my surroundings more and allows me to thrive as well.
《Yojiro TAKAHAGI》
(Although I entered the game in a defensive situation, I was aware of what I needed to do)
"I wanted to properly recover the cleared balls and the loose balls from the opponent's long balls, and create time for both offense and defense from there, but I couldn't create those situations very well."
I wish I could have collected it a little more on my own.
(I think we were pushed back by the opponent's momentum in the last 10 minutes, but the reason is)
"I believe the main factor was that we couldn't secure possession during the opponent's strong challenges and second balls."
(How do you feel about the defeat against a university team?)
"I definitely did not enter the match thinking that the opponent was a university student, nor did I play with a condescending attitude. Losing to any opponent is extremely frustrating."
(Towards the Levain Cup and J.League)
"First of all, we cannot go back to the fact that we lost, so we will switch gears and prepare for the next Levain Cup."
If we turn many fifty-fifty balls into the opponent's possession, I believe any opponent will have chances rolling in. We must first ensure that we don't lose in the battles for the ball, including the mental aspect.
I think each player has their own judgment during the match, so I believe it is important to align that during the game.
《Tokyo - Summary of the Press Conference with Director Kenta HASEGAWA》
I sincerely accept this loss and believe it is the coach's responsibility.
I think the players fought with their feelings out there.
It is difficult to win with just one point, and we were unable to show the intensity needed to score additional points.
I would like to commend the efforts of the players from Juntendo University.
After all, we cannot win in the league with just one goal, so we need to explore combinations for the next Levain Cup.
(Intent of substituting Diego OLIVEIRA)
"I thought that if we could score one more goal, the match would be decided, so I made the substitution with the aim of getting an additional goal."
(The reason it ended up 1-1)
"We had chances until the end, and I made substitutions thinking we could secure the game in the last 5 minutes, but we couldn't close it out properly."
(I think some of the players who participated in extra time were unexpected, but the impact on the Levain Cup this weekend is)
"Since they didn't play for that long, I don't think the impact will be significant. However, since there are three days in between, I would like to decide based on each player's condition."
(This is how it turned out if we were to lose, but I have finished fighting for 120 minutes)
"I knew that when the students seize an opportunity like today, they can show an extra level of strength, so I thought it was dangerous if we didn't score another goal in the second half. I wanted to bring in Diego and Mita to secure an additional goal and decide the match, but in the very end, a shot went in, and it went into extra time. This was unexpected, but even so, we had members like Adailton who could win in a shootout, so it was a disappointing result that we couldn't secure an additional goal among them.
I think the players from Juntendo University fought with a lot of heart. As a coach, it is very frustrating to lose to college students for the first time, and I feel a deep sense of regret for not being able to deliver a victory to the fans and supporters who came to the match during the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes me acutely aware of my own lack of ability.
(Has the importance of the Levain Cup increased due to the loss in the Emperor's Cup?)
"It's not that the importance increases just because we lost in the Emperor's Cup. We gave it our all and still lost.
Since we couldn't win the first match of the Levain Cup, we want to fight with all our strength.
《Juntendo University - Director Takumi Horiike Press Conference Summary》
I never thought that today's 2nd Round would allow me to compete against Coach Hasegawa's Tokyo. I might have been the most looking forward to it myself.
We have players from Tokyo, and there were players I invited with the feeling of 'let's show them again in four years' who couldn't make it to the top. HASEGAWA, Terayama, and Kobayashi fought with determination. I believe that both the players and the team gained a lot in terms of being able to fight without giving up even after falling behind.
I thought there was an infinite amount to gain if we won. In a serious competition, you can understand your position. The players said that there is nothing to lose even if we lose, so it was good that we were able to keep going without giving up.
There is a university league, but the J.League also has the Levain Cup.
I believe that being able to win with the main players coming out in the end, while we were discussing trying to get the truly top players to play in the match, will give us confidence for the future.
