[Player/Coach Comments]

Fresh members will be used in consecutive games to challenge Yokohama FM.

In the 4th round of the league, we will face Yokohama F.Marinos and go on the away game. Although we couldn't achieve victory in the previous round, we managed to draw with determination with the support of our home fans. From there, we will have back-to-back games in just 2 days, but we will aim for victory while fixing our issues in the away game.

Tokyo this season has always approached with a competitive mindset of "those who produce results in practice will be able to play on the pitch in the game." At the same time, coach Jofuku also says, "I want to create a team base by not fixing (the members) and changing them." Therefore, this time, considering the measures against the opponent and the consecutive games, the players will be replaced and faced. Kajiyama returns from injury, and Sasaki, the center back, and Morimura, the right MF, will start for the first time this season. Hayabusa will play as the left MF, and Hirayama and Kawaguchi will serve as the 2 top players in a 4-4-2 formation.

Yokohama FM, on the other hand, suffered their first loss of the season against Kashima in the previous round, but have a record of 2 wins and 1 loss in the league, and 1 win and 1 draw in the Nabisco Cup. Striker Oshima, known for his accurate post play, as well as forwards Ronnie and midfielders Lopez and Koji YAMASE, possess both holding and breakthrough abilities. It will be necessary to put pressure on them and not allow them to play freely. Additionally, while Yokohama FM's lineup is listed as a 4-4-2, midfielder Komiyama and defender Hayato TANAKA play as wingers, making the battle on the sides an interesting one to watch.

Yokohama FM's 3-back has both height and strength, so we want to shake them up from both sides. Starting from the front line's Hirayama, Kawaguchi, Hanyu, and Morimura will use their movement to stir up the defense and aim for a goal and victory. The match started at 19:05 in Tokyo with a kick-off at the NHK Spring Mitsuzawa Football Stadium, which was cloudy with flowers.

Tightly contested match, ends scoreless at halftime

Shortly after the start, Morimura expands to the right from Kajiyama. Tokunaga, who advanced to a deep position, takes a CK. However, the right CK kicked by Morimura is cleared by the Yokohama FM DF. In the 6th minute, Kawaguchi → Hanyu connects on the left side, and Morimura, who was on the left side, shoots while attacking. It is saved by the GK, but he challenges boldly from the start and creates a good opportunity. In the 8th minute, Yokohama FM also quickly switches the ball after stealing it in the Tokyo territory, and MF Yamase Koji takes a shot from the middle. In the following 9th minute, this time from the Yokohama FM territory, they launch a quick attack, and MF Lopez dribbles up, and FW Ronnie, who received the ball outside the left area, takes a shot. However, there is no momentum and Shioda holds it back.

At 14 minutes, Kajiyama quickly restarted with a FK on the left side. Morimura on the opposite side aimed with a header, but couldn't finish due to competition from the opposing DF. Both teams attacked each other, but were unable to break through the DF. On the contrary, the game was evenly matched with focused defense. At 26 minutes, Kajiyama switched sides from left to right and Tokunaga made a precise run, challenging the Yokohama DF with a shot in the area, but it went too high. At 30 minutes, Kajiyama intercepted in his own half. Nagatomo quickly sent it to the front line, through Hanyu, and Hirayama made a run while taking a shot, but it also missed the target.

After 30 minutes, Yokohama FM was pushed in from a set play. In the 35th minute, a free kick from MF Koji YAMASE from a deep position on the right side was barely punched away by Shioda. In the 36th minute, from a left throw-in by Yokohama FM, MF Koji YAMASE took advantage of a gap and took a middle shot. It flew towards the top left corner of the goal, but Shioda made a last-minute save and it went out for a corner kick. In the 37th minute, Shigeki SHIGENOBU collided with MF Lopez of Yokohama FM while trying to contain him, injuring his shoulder and temporarily leaving the pitch, but he quickly returned. After that, they faced a series of corner kicks, but Shioda and the defense held strong and the first half ended scoreless.

Conceded 3 goals in the second half and suffered a complete defeat, experiencing the first loss in the league.

In the second half, in order to make a move, Otake was substituted for Morimura. They go for the goal with a tactical substitution. However, in the 46th minute, the ball was taken in the midfield and passed to Yokohama FM's FW Oshima on the left front line. He passed it back with a post-play and MF Yamase Koji received it and made a fierce dash towards the goal with a dribble. No one could stop him and even the final line, Shigeki Shigeki, couldn't get close enough to stop the powerful shot from hitting the net, resulting in a goal... They conceded the first goal in the early stages and in the 50th minute, Cabore was brought in. They aimed for a counterattack with a quick attack that penetrated the defense.

In the 53rd minute, Hayashi's left cross was returned by Hirayama, and Otake skillfully controlled the ball in front of the goal, evading the opposing DF and taking a shot. However, the GK made a save and the big chance was missed. This time, Yokohama FM had a chance. In the 57th minute, their second corner kick - a right corner kick - was connected by MF Koji YAMASE with a short pass, and DF Nakazawa received the return and made a right cross. This skimmed past Tokyo DF and reached MF Lins, who was positioned near the goal, and he scored with a header shot.

It was a difficult situation as they were trailing by 2 points, but in the 59th minute, Hirayama broke through on a floating pass from Konno and pushed it into the goal as the goalkeeper came out. However, it was ruled as a handball and the goal was disallowed. After that, they tried to attack quickly but lost the ball in the middle, leading to a speedy counterattack from Yokohama FM. In the 69th minute, Kajiyama, Otake, and Nagatomo worked together with dribbles to attack the Yokohama FM goal, but were unable to take a shot in the end. On the contrary, they lost the ball and allowed Yokohama FM's MF Komiyama to take a shot.

72 minutes, Tokunaga advances and sends a sharp cross flying parallel to the goal. Otake, the opponent's DF, and Hirayama all miss the ball, but Kajiyama takes a shot from just outside the area, sending it high. In the 75th minute, Hirayama swings to the left area and Cabore breaks through, circling around to the center and passing to Otake. They make quick passes, and finally Imakano takes a shot from just outside the area, but it curves to the right. In the 77th minute, Asari is substituted in. Along with Kajiyama and Imakano, both fullbacks push up and add numbers to the attack, aiming for a goal.

However, Tokyo was unable to break through despite approaching the goal. Yokohama FM launched a sharp counterattack, and the attack and defense quickly changed. In the 86th minute, left cross was dropped by central player Hirayama, and left-sided Cabore volleyed while reversing his body to the ball that bounced off the opponent's DF. The powerful shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. Then, in the 89th minute, Yokohama FM's MF Matsuda became a wedge and MF Yamase Koji received the return pass and took a strong ground shot. It hit the bottom left corner of the post and bounced in for a goal. In the end, they lost their third goal by taking advantage of the attacking opportunity, and the game was over. They suffered their first defeat in the league with a 0-3 loss.

【Player Comments】《Morimura》"I was conscious of the speed of switching between offense and defense, and I wanted to attack the opponent's back three. I felt confident in the switching part, but I couldn't receive the ball much and couldn't create a rhythm. I also felt the need to come up with ideas for how to enter from the side to the center, as well as not being able to create a pause in the front line."《Sahara》"We were able to play well in the first half. I think we were able to defend well with good communication. If we had scored first in that situation, we would have been able to control the pace of the game. I think our game plan fell apart by a hair's breadth."

[Summary of Manager Jofuku's Press Conference] "We changed the players from the previous match, but I think the starting members, including the first-time starters, fulfilled their roles. Hirayama played a role in receiving the ball with his height, Kawaguchi ran both on offense and defense, and was also used for his balance in running behind the defense. He was also in good condition, so we started him considering the three consecutive games. In the first half, we were hardly broken down and it was not a bad 45 minutes. In the second half, we were taken advantage of in places where we should have just moved the ball easily, and we were taken advantage of in places where we didn't have to force it. We were aware that if we let MF Yamase Koji face forward near the penalty area, he could take the ball all the way to the goal, but the way we lost the ball led to that situation. That's how we conceded the first goal and the rhythm was a bit off. Also, as we were chasing the game, we lacked a bit of sharpness. While we were trying to connect and move the ball, we ended up just passing it around in the same way as the first half, without fully utilizing the two top players, Cabore and Hirayama, who came on as substitutes. (What was the difference with Yokohama FM?) We needed to have the awareness and accuracy to go towards the goal once we entered the attacking third, but there were a few moments where we could have gone straight towards the goal after winning the ball, but we ended up taking too many touches. I think that was the difference."

[Yokohama FM - Manager Kuwahara's Press Conference Summary] "We lost to Kashima in the previous match, and today's game was important. The players understood that and gave their all for 90 minutes, and I think their desire to win was reflected in their play. I am grateful for the victory that the players gave us. One difference from the previous match was that today's game was a night game. Night games have a different speed and distance, so we talked about being more aggressive. In the first half, MF Koji YAMASE took a shot and the opponent's goalkeeper made a save, but his intention to shoot was high. In the past, he would hesitate to pass even in the penalty area, but today we talked about being more aggressive and he was able to do what he aimed for. MF Koji YAMASE had not been able to score for the team since returning from the national team, but I think his true abilities were hidden due to the effects of jet lag. However, his partnership with MF Lopez has improved and he seemed to be enjoying himself today. If he can play like that, we can expect him to score at least two goals."
