[Player and Coach Comments]
The first match at NACK5 Stadium, facing the tough opponent Omiya!
In Sec. 10 of the league, we will face Omiya Ardija away. In the previous match against Oita, we calmly fought for 90 minutes and achieved victory. In this match, we want to endure where we need to endure, while also extending our time of possession as much as possible to secure a win. Even though it's an away game, we aim to maintain our position at the top by sticking to Tokyo's style of football and striving for 3 points.
In this match, the center backs will be Moniwa and Fujiyama, with Asari serving as the central defensive midfielder. Additionally, Kondo has returned from injury and will be on the bench for the first time since the opening match. Ikegami will also be on the bench, while Bruno QUADROS has sustained a foot injury and will be sidelined.
Omiya currently sits in 6th place with 4 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses. They have been in good form, remaining unbeaten in their last 5 league matches, and recently achieved a comeback victory against Gamba Osaka, which should have improved the team's atmosphere. In addition to the solid defense they have built up until now, under the new manager Yasuhiro HIGUCHI this season, they have adopted a fluid style of play that creates chances through passing. They have also shown resilience in their matches against top teams like Urawa and Kashima, gaining confidence in their ability to compete evenly. Coach Jofuku has also expressed caution, stating, "They are gaining more confidence in their attacking play and are the toughest opponent."
Omiya will be missing FW Yoshihara and MF Saito, but attention is needed for FW Denis Marquez's dribbling and the movements of the opposing attackers who break through between the DF and DF. Even if Omiya dominates possession, we must defend calmly and look for counterattack opportunities. In past encounters, we have often been 'caught' by power plays or set pieces near the end of the match. They are indeed a tough opponent, and it seems we cannot let our guard down until the very end, but by focusing on balance and quickly transitioning from defense to attack, we should be able to exploit any openings. Let's read the flow of the game calmly and fight for victory without giving up!
The rain that had been falling since the day before stopped before the match, making it humid at NACK5 Stadium Omiya. The match started with a kickoff from Tokyo at 14:05.
Although allowing Omiya to dominate, Kajiyama scores his first goal! Cabore grabs the second point.
From the start, Omiya launched an aggressive attack while connecting passes. Shortly after the match began, Omiya's left MF Kanazawa advanced and delivered a cross. Fujiyama cleared the ball, but MF Kanazawa regained possession and took a long-range shot. In the 6th minute, Omiya's right back Murayama advanced, trying to break into the area after a one-two with right MF Kobayashi, but Nagatomo managed to hold him back. Tokyo responded calmly, with Shiota's saves and Fujiyama's sharp interceptions, while Shigeno also defended tenaciously, preventing any decisive threats. In the 13th minute, they were pressed in midfield, allowing Omiya's FW Pedro JUNIOR to break into the left side of the area, but Fujiyama closed in on the shot, and Shiota made a sharp save.
Tokyo quickly transitions to attack after winning the ball, targeting the space behind Omiya's defense. In the 15th minute, Moniwa sends a long pass to Fujiyama, who has opened up on the right. Kajiyama makes a run from midfield to the drop point of the ball and connects with a header. The ball goes over the goalkeeper's head and into the net, scoring Kajiyama's first goal of the season and taking the lead!
Both teams continued to challenge each other, and in the 16th minute, Omiya FW Denis Marques brought the ball in with a dribble and took a strong shot from the right area, but Shiota made the save. In the 19th minute, Akamine dropped Shiota's kick, exchanged passes with Cabore, and once again Cabore broke into the left area. He tried to shake off the defender with speed, but the shot did not connect. In the 20th minute, Kurizawa persistently connected with a loose ball from Nagatomo's left cross, and Konno took a shot from the middle, but it went wide. In the 22nd minute, Omiya MF Kobayashi Daisuke advanced into the right area. He delivered a decisive backward pass in front of the goal, but FW Pedro JUNIOR was unable to take the shot. They escaped the danger.
In the 25th minute, a pass attempted by Kajiyama in Omiya's territory was initially blocked by the DF, but he regained possession of the loose ball, advanced forward, and took a controlled shot from distance. It narrowly missed above the crossbar, failing to secure an additional goal. However, in the 32nd minute, Shiota's kick towards the front line went over Akamine and the opposing DF's heads and broke through. Cabore, who ran into the space, took a one-touch shot, assessing the advancing opposing GK, and executed a looping shot! The attack targeting behind the Omiya DF succeeded, taking advantage of the opponent's gap to score two goals and end the first half.
