[Player and Coach Comments]
Sec. 10 held at Yumenoshima Stadium, the first since Sec. 5 held on April 17 (Sunday).
FC Tokyo U-23, having suffered consecutive losses in away matches, wants to change the momentum at home.
The starting eleven of Tokyo is GK Enclosure.
The DF line is on the right with Kiji, and on the left is Ogawa, who will make his first appearance and first start in the J3 League with FC Tokyo U-23.
And in the center back position, Okazaki and Hasukawa, who has just been registered as a second player, will face Kagoshima with an average age of 17.7 years (as of May 23), marking their debut and first start in a young defensive line.
In the midfield, as in the previous match, Suzuki plays as the anchor, with captain Kono and Sho SASAKI in the inside half.
In the front line, Muriqui, Insoo YU, and Nathan BURNS, who is making his first appearance and first start in the J3 League, form a 4-3-3 formation.
Kagoshima is participating in the J3 League this season. The team, led by Tetsuya ASANO, who also played for FC Tokyo, is in its second year and currently ranks 4th with a strong defense and sharp counterattacks.
Tokyo aims to earn points from the top teams.
[First Half]
Kagoshima entered the match aggressively.
Immediately after the start, a cross from the left side was allowed, but the goalkeeper caught it.
Both teams form a compact formation during defense and build a block within their own territory.
Kagoshima connects passes while Tokyo looks for opportunities with counterattacks using medium to long-range passes to change the situation.
The first chance came in the 20th minute, with Muriqui holding the ball in his own half and making a middle pass to Barnes running down the right side.
Barnes dribbles this forward to Insoo YU, who is positioned in the center.
Insoo YU simply passed to Sasaki and took a mid-range shot, but it was blocked by the opposing defense.
The defense will not lose focus.
In the 23rd minute, we gave a moment of space in the center just outside the goal area, allowing a long-range shot, but Okazaki blocked it with a sliding tackle.
The loose ball was picked up again, allowing a diagonal breakthrough from the left side, but Kai firmly caught it head-on.
Tokyo created another chance on the counter in the 25th minute. Sasaki received the ball in the center of his own half, turned to face forward, and sent a long pass to Barnes, who had made a run behind the right side.
Burns dribbles forward and takes a shot from a tight angle inside the penalty area, but the opposing GK makes the save.
From the left corner kick obtained, Ogawa sends the ball to Sasaki near the center of the penalty area line, and Sasaki aims for a direct right-footed jumping volley, but it goes straight to the goalkeeper.
Kagoshima had a chance in the 33rd minute, allowing a vertical pass in their own half, which was followed by two direct passes that broke through the center and entered the penalty area.
This decisive shot was saved by the quick reaction of the goalkeeper, preventing a goal.
As the time of patience continues, Barnes and Muriqui advance vertically towards the goal.
In the 41st minute, Insoo YU, who flowed to the left side from Okazaki's long pass, uses his body to secure the ball.
When Muriki entered to support and picked up the ball, he broke through on the left side and advanced into the penalty area.
A cross from Granda to Barnes just misses the mark.
In the 43rd minute, Muriki cut off the opponent's pass in the center of his own half and launched a counterattack.
Muriki advances to the center and delivers a through pass to Barnes running on the right side.
Barnes takes a shot while competing with the opponent, but it gets blocked.
Muriqui fought hard in defense and inspired the team just before the end of the first half.
The opponent attempts to dribble deep on our left side, but Muriki comes back to defend and prevents the opponent's advance.
The crowd applauded this play.
Everyone expressed their feelings and went into halftime at 0-0.
【Halftime】
Coach Anma
"Stop the opponent's speed in defense. In attack, make quick decisions and increase the tempo. We will definitely win!"
[Second Half]
Tokyo switches to Yamada, who has been participating since Sec. 4, from Hasukawa. He will team up with Okazaki.
Kagoshima will not make any substitutions, and the second half will begin with a kickoff from Tokyo.
In the second half, both teams will launch attacks focusing on counterattacks and short counterattacks.
In the 47th minute, after receiving a counter from the opponent, a pass was made behind the defensive line, and Kai rushed out to catch the ball while making contact with the opposing player.
Kai crouched down once but stood up again to continue playing. On this day, Kai consistently demonstrated stable catching, repeatedly thwarting the opponent's attacks.
Tokyo launches a short counterattack from Muriqui's aggressive press.
In the 55th minute, Muriqui picks up the ball deep on the left side after chasing twice in the opponent's half.
In the 59th minute, they launched a press from the front line, and Muriqui stole the ball.
Ogawa breaks through vertically on the left side and earns a left corner kick. However, after this corner kick is cleared, they suffer a counterattack.
The left side was broken through vertically, facing a 1-on-3 crisis, but the player desperately responded and did not allow a goal.
And the biggest chance of the day came in the 63rd minute.
After winning a free kick in the opponent's central area, Ogawa's shot is blocked by the wall.
Kono kobore-kyuu o, Yukino ga hiroi DF rain ura ni yawarakai rasuto pasu o dasu to Sasaki ga nukedashi, aite o kawashi shuto o hanatsu mo baa ni habamarete shimau.
Suruto, setto purē kara pinchi o mukaete shimau.
In the 66th minute, a free kick from the right side of the midfield was headed in the center but went over the goal.
In the 71st minute, a left corner kick was awarded, and the ball went to the center outside the penalty area instead of in front of the goal. Here, an opposing player was free to jump in and take a shot, but it was right in front of the goalkeeper.
Tokyo replaced Insoo YU with Hiraoka. Positioned on the right side, Muriqui and Barnes form a two-top.
Changed to a double pivot of Suzuki and Yukino, with Sasaki on the left side in a 4-4-2 formation.
However, the flow did not change, and in the 81st minute, we lost the ball in our own half and faced a short counterattack.
As the play unfolds from the center to the left side, a shot is taken from a cut-in, but the goalkeeper catches it.
Continuing to endure, in the additional time at 90+1 minutes, Sasaki broke through on the left side and passed to Barnes running ahead.
Barnes competes with the opposing DF, enters the penalty area, and takes a shot, but misses the target.
The match ended as it was, resulting in a scoreless draw of 0-0.
Thank you very much for your passionate support for FC Tokyo U-23 today.
We appreciate your continued warm support.
【Summary of Coach Anma's Press Conference】
"Above all, I would like to thank the many fans and supporters who came out to this match and provided their support."
In the match, I think it was really good that we fought very patiently and delicately against Kagoshima, who are currently in 4th place and have a sharp counterattack, with four teenagers in the defense line and Suzuki as the anchor.
There was very active communication even during halftime, and it was a great sight to see Muriqui, Barnes, and others, regardless of age, engaging in it. I think it was really good that each of them became able to assert themselves through repeated interactions.
However, I believe that what professional sports undoubtedly provide is emotion, so I think the fans and supporters who came today experienced good emotions, and I want to work even harder to ensure that you can take home the best emotions.
【Player Comments】
《Ogawa》
"I think it was good that the team finished without conceding any goals. However, there were many defensive crises, and even though we created decisive chances in attack, the fact that we scored zero goals leaves us with issues to address."
Personally, I think the defense was fairly stable, but in terms of offense, I believe we need to be more proactive and the accuracy of our crosses was really poor today. I want to create more decisive chances on my own and work on building the game more effectively.
(Was the DF line made up of younger members?) Since I was the oldest in the DF line and the only one with experience in the DF line in J1, I really wanted to convey the speed of that DF line, so I made sure to speak up.
(What is your enthusiasm for the next match?) Whether in J1 or J3, I will always fight with all my might, so I want to play a match that will impress the fans and supporters.
