[Player and Coach Comments]
《Yohei KAJIYAMA》
Q=About today's match
"In the first half, we enjoyed playing and I think we did well. Regarding the goal conceded during stoppage time in the first half, we needed to tighten up during that period, and we conceded due to a lapse in concentration. That needs to be corrected, but overall, our defense is stable, and if we can maintain the same attacking shape as in the first half throughout the 90 minutes, I believe both the performance and the results will follow."
Q=What did you focus on in today's play?
"Yone was distributing the ball from the back, and since he could push the ball forward, I tried to play as close as possible to Ryoichi and Takuma. The sense of distance was good, and we were able to circulate the ball well. My challenge is whether I can move forward from there. However, I think I could have received the ball more often in between, and I need to demand that more. If I can do that, I believe the team's rhythm will improve."
《Ryoya OGAWA》
Q=Reflecting on today's match
"I wanted to win this match solidly, pass through the group stage in first place, and carry that momentum into the league matches, but we lost. However, we have another match against Shimizu this weekend, so I want to switch gears and focus on training properly."
What are your thoughts on scoring your first goal in an official J1 match?
"It was more of a ball aimed to match rather than a direct shot. However, I kicked it with the intention that it would go into the goal even if no one touched it."
Q=When was the moment it was decided?
"I was honestly happy. I think being able to score from a set piece in a stalemate brought a good flow to the team."
《Summary of Coach Yoshiyuki SHINODA's Press Conference》
"As a result, it's very disappointing that we lost and couldn't finish in first place, failing to achieve our goal. After taking the lead, there was a long period of chaos, and while we weren't aiming for a draw, there were moments when we paused. I feel that the way we conceded the goal was poor. Being equalized during that pause made today's game even more difficult. We haven't been eliminated from the Levain Cup yet, but to win the Levain Cup, we need to get through the playoffs, so I want to reassess that once again. Also, we have a league match here again in three days, so we want to prepare together to repay today's debt."
《Q&A》
Q=Please explain in detail the reason for the stoppage in play.
"The distance of our approach to the opponent became a bit too far, and that gradually created some discrepancies, which was one of the reasons. It was unclear who would press and at what timing against the opponent's players taking intermediate positions, and we were a beat late, allowing the second and third players to come in and concede a goal. We need to be a bit smarter in managing the game, and since we were leading 1-0, I think it would have been best to finish that period without conceding. Clearing the ball is not something to be ashamed of, and if we had made a big clearance, I believe the first half would have ended there, so I want to reflect on those aspects."
Q=What was the intention behind bringing in players like Nagai and Peter UTAKA in the second half?
"With the score at 1-1, I brought in Kensuke NAGAI and told him to get behind the opponent. I wanted to press high from a position of dominance. Ryoichi MAEDA was also doing that, but I wanted Kensuke to make movements that would push the opponent back a bit more. After we conceded a goal, I brought in Utaka to score, but there were times when we had to drop back to receive the ball. However, I think we were able to show what we practiced when we once penetrated the penalty area through combination play. Now, we really need to decide whether to take a shot to score or to pass to a teammate for a shot; I want to increase those kinds of scenes. Also, Yuhei TOKUNAGA made several good crosses from the side, but since we weren't connecting inside, I believe we need to train hard to ensure we can score goals."
《Summary of the Press Conference by Shimizu Coach Shinji KOBAYASHI》
"It was good that they fought without giving up after conceding a goal. I think FC Tokyo relaxed a bit after scoring the first goal, and we had two chances. It was good that we thoroughly focused on getting behind the defense from the beginning. Also, I believe we maintained a defensive awareness until the end, tightening up at the back and pushing forward. Finally, we were able to secure three points at home, which is a relief. We talked about going for the first goal, but it was good that we focused on solid defense. I think we were able to play a really tight game today. With many players making runs behind the defense, I believe we caused a lot of panic in the opponent's defensive line. If we can gradually get vertical passes in that situation, I think we can play even more interesting soccer."
《Q&A》
Q=How do you perceive the significance of today's victory in relation to the next league match?
"As it has been going, we have been losing in the middle of the week and then losing again on the weekend. This time, we changed the lineup a bit. Although it was only three days apart, we made sure to get on the field, and the players who were tired adjusted their condition for the league matches. I believe the players who participated did well, and I think it makes us all happy to receive such joy. I believe this will become a great strength for us, and I felt like we gained some mental strength. We have been earning points against the top teams, but we have lost to teams in the middle tier, so we need to effectively link our offense and defense, solidly defend when necessary, and score when we have the chance. I want to prioritize these aspects and prepare thoroughly."
Q=How is the condition of player Daisei Zheng, who was substituted due to injury?
"I heard that I was cut off and that I was able to speak when I got into the ambulance. However, that's about all I understand right now."
