[Player and Coach Comments]
《Masayuki YAMADA》
"I was able to play while having fun today."
The defeat in the Levain match against Iwata was my fault. However, because of that experience, I was able to play calmly today.
(Although he showed side changes and long passes?)
When the entire team became exhausted and could no longer connect passes, instead of clearing the ball easily and without forcing it, he was conscious of making long passes to the opposite wing-back.
I thought that if I could evade one when the opponent was closing in, it would create an opportunity.
I was asked for that, it is also my characteristic, and I had confidence.
In terms of defense, I often found myself having to watch multiple opponents alone, and during the match, I received advice and guidance from GK Hayashi (laughs).
Don't leave space there, fill it in, it's okay to blur it there... and so on.
I think it was good that I was able to communicate with those around me and make adjustments during the match each time.
There are still areas that need improvement, and I believe I can do even more.
I want to reflect calmly on today's match and work hard to grow even more.
《Insoo YU》
All the players had a strong desire to move on.
I believe that the attitude of having a shared ambition and fighting together was reflected in our play.
Personally, I had some anxiety before going to Germany, but through the expedition, I felt a sense of achievement within myself and gained confidence.
I want to take the position and I want to play in the league matches, and I think that feeling led to my appeal in today's match.
Especially in today's position, there was a demand for a sense of speed in the attack, an increased awareness of moving forward, and finishing the plays. I was also conscious of taking shots myself.
As a team, there were times when we struggled with build-up play, but I don't think there were any issues with quick transitions or overall speed.
I hope today's game leads to the next one.
《Summary of Coach Yoshiyuki SHINODA's Press Conference》
"It was good to be able to advance through the playoffs, which is our main objective. The players held their ground well. I think they fought with a sense of competition while also challenging new attempts. Of course, there were still moments in the matches where we gave the opponent openings, moments where we were outmaneuvered, and times when we lost possession of the ball. I believe the opponent's time will inevitably come, but it was good that we were able to prevent their entry during those times. I thought the way we defended when the opponent's shot hit the post still needs improvement, but overall, I think the results and performance were decent. Of course, if we can't score the second and third goals, we won't know what kind of situation we might end up in, so everyone needs to be more aware and train harder in the attacking aspect."
《Q&A》
Q=What is the aim of adopting a 3-back formation?
"One is that we want to apply pressure firmly from the front. This was the case even with a four-back system, but the aim is to make that intention clearer. The other is that during build-up situations, the build-up from the defensive line often got stuck, so we adopted a strategy to use the field more widely and target the opponent's center. However, it's important that the system doesn't become overly rigid, and we are trying various things to ensure that the players can play with dynamism."
《Hiroshima - Summary of Coach Yang Yongson's Press Conference》
"I think we were able to have a competitive match today. FC Tokyo was a well-organized team, but since we lost the first match 0-1, it was a game where we needed to score. As a result, we couldn't manage to score, but we were able to play a good game. There were times in the first half where we had to endure, but gradually we found our pace and I think we were able to create good opportunities. Just before the end of the first half, we had a good attack from a counter. We created the biggest chance in the second half, but unfortunately, we couldn't score. Shortly after that, we lost the ball and allowed the opponent to score."
《Q&A》
Q=What was the most positive aspect you felt in today's match?
"Since last week, we have been training to change various aspects, and the most positive element is that we were able to express that in the match. Some players performed the plays I wanted them to. I think Takahashi on the left side did very well."
What was the intention behind bringing in player Chiba and placing player Nogami in the defensive midfield position while losing 0-1?
"Nogami was playing very well, so I didn't want to take him off. Therefore, I brought in Chiba and moved him up to midfield. I also wanted to see how he would perform in midfield. I wanted to create a few more situations for him to compete in the box."
Q=It's a tough situation, but do you feel the players' determination to overcome this?
The players are training vigorously and in good form. I believe that the accumulation of good performances will improve the team in the future. In that process, the team is making progress step by step, and unfortunately, we could not advance to the next stage of the cup competition, but we want to prepare well for the next league match.
