[Player and Coach Comments]
《Hyun Soo JANG》
"In the last match, we conceded a lot of goals, so everyone raised their defensive awareness. I believe that the collective awareness of the team led to the result of not conceding any goals."
(Against the Iwata attack)
Iwata has not only FW Kawamata but also MF Adailton, each with their own characteristics such as speed, height, and power. That was thoroughly analyzed.
In particular, the passes from Iwata MF Nakamura are a threat, so we tried to focus on containing him when he had the ball.
I think that ultimately became the reason why the opponent did not score.
(There were moments when we launched a counterattack and advanced, but?)
I always keep in mind to attack when there is a chance. Today, I was called for a foul, which is frustrating and disappointing.
(Although we ended without scoring, what do you expect from the attacking players?)
What I expect from the attacking players is nothing.
He always contributes greatly on the defensive side. That's why we were able to keep a clean sheet today.
《Keigo HIGASHI》
"Receive the ball continuously, actively engage in build-up play, and continue to challenge for attacks."
It was unfortunate that it didn't lead to a goal...
With Takahagi, we made an effort to play without becoming too aggressive or too defensive, and to avoid being one-sided. I believe we achieved good communication.
It has been about 8 years since I played as a defensive midfielder. It's almost like my first time, but I believe it's important to practice more and build up my skills.
《Tokyo - Summary of the Press Conference by Coach Takayoshi AMMA》
"First of all, I would like to thank the fans and supporters who have given courage to the team at the stadium.
Iwata is a team that scored 19 out of 41 goals from set pieces, with the remaining 10 goals coming from counterattacks.
I entered the match trying to prevent that opponent from gaining speed.
When it comes to set plays, we talked about doing what we need to do properly and staying focused until the second and third plays are completed. In response to that, each player did what we needed to do as a team for the full 90 minutes.
This season, we had been conceding many goals, so with the concept of keeping possession to reduce goals conceded to zero, we faced strong teams like Sendai, Kashiwa, and Iwata. I believe that finishing two out of those three matches without conceding a goal showed a certain form as a team.
Although there were mistakes in the match against Kashiwa due to ball possession, it can be a good lesson.
I view entering the break with a balanced record against these three teams positively.
We want to build up the areas where we speed up to score, including the players in the front line, by working together as a team.
What is the evaluation of Player Higashi's contribution to the attack?
"By confidently showing up in the midfield, even if he didn't receive the ball, there were times when the ball went to Yoshito or Ryoichi. Because we were able to make vertical passes instead of just lateral passing, I think we prevented the opponent from focusing on us. If there had been mistakes there, it would have allowed the opponent to gain momentum like in the match against Kashiwa, so today his presence helped to stop Iwata's progress."
《Press Conference Summary of Iwata's Coach Hiroshi NANAMI》
"We changed from a three-back formation in the last match to a four-back formation in today's game, and while the players' positions have changed, what I communicated to the players was to focus on the usual instructions without getting caught up in numbers."
I think various scenes will arise during the match, but I believe that by each person making clear judgments, we can play collectively.
I think the defense was very compact. There was no stretching between the center backs and the side backs, as well as between the center backs and the defensive midfielders. So, even though the last 15 to 20 minutes of the match tended to turn into a counterattack battle, it didn't become a rough match, which was very good.
In terms of offense, we adjusted to the opponent, which disrupted our possession rhythm, and there were few movements from the front line. It was disappointing that our awareness of the opponent's back and the sides of the box was also lacking. There was little focus on shooting, and the accuracy of our final touches was not good, leading to many scenes where we were blocked by the opponent.
What is your evaluation of player Yamada's first start after the transfer?
"There were too many choices to play backward. Even when entering the box, there were many scenes of back passes, and we didn't see enough attempts to target behind the defense, which was not the play we expected. Having played as a defensive midfielder in Germany for about a year, it felt like he had forgotten the atmosphere of the second line. What I conveyed to him was, 'Let's approach the match as if it's rehabilitation and relax,' but honestly, I don't think he performed well. However, by starting, I believe something new will sprout within him, and he will have time to adjust various things over the next two weeks, so I hope he can get into good shape by the Shizuoka Derby."
You mentioned that you were able to maintain a patient and compact defense, but is that also a factor in the few goals conceded this season?
I believe that the reason is that the players are throwing themselves into the game until the very end, utilizing their characteristics within the constraints of discipline, and helping each other. Personally, I am not fixated on numbers, but compared to last season's 50 goals conceded, which is an incredibly high number, I think this is a very good figure.
