Players greeting the stands after the match
[Player and Coach Comments]
Masato MORISHIGE
"We didn't specifically discuss the goal, but Ryoya has been delivering good balls consistently. I had a good feeling since the camp, and I was relieved to finally score today after not being able to do so for a while."
However, after taking a 2-point lead today, we clearly relaxed.
Everyone felt it, and harsh words were exchanged during halftime.
Right after the second half, G Osaka scored their second goal, but everyone knew what needed to be done. In the past, FC Tokyo tended to slip away after being equalized, but I think it was really great that we managed to bounce back and secure the 3 points.
It was tough, but I think the fact that everyone didn't fall apart while trying to regroup from there led to Diego's third goal.
It became clear what to do during difficult times or when things are not going well.
In particular, the players who came on as substitutes fulfilled their roles and changed the flow of the game.
From here, it's truly an all-out battle. Everyone's strength is needed, and I feel that it was a match that demonstrated that.
Akihiro HAYASHI
Regardless of the penalty kick, managing the game after taking the lead is a challenge.
Today everyone has relaxed.
There are points for reflection not only in pressing but also in the way of passing, and there are issues that need to be corrected.
At halftime, Keigo scolded and encouraged us, saying, 'This isn't good! It's no different from usual!' and we all discussed it, but we should have been able to bring the situation to one where we could control the game more easily.
While it is significant that we were able to secure a victory among them, the three goals were thanks to the attacking players. As a defender, I must correct the two goals conceded.
Summary of the press conference by Kenta HASEGAWA, Tokyo's coach
It was a match with an intense development.
Although we haven't been able to score multiple goals lately, I truly believe the players did a great job in scoring three goals to win, and I think it's thanks to the passionate support from our fans and supporters until the very end. We managed to score two goals early in the first half, but after conceding one goal, I thought we would be in trouble in the second half if we continued like this.
I think that because we talked to the players about going for the third goal at halftime and entered with an offensive mindset, we were able to score another goal instead of becoming passive after conceding. During the midfield period, we held training games and had various meetings to find ways to score, so it was good that we were able to show the results of that in today's match.
The consecutive matches continue from here, and I want to switch gears and prepare properly for the next Levain Cup.
Q=I think the pressing was effective in the first half. But what were the reasons that the pressing stopped working in the second half?
"We started off quite strong from the beginning of the match, so fatigue began to show towards the end of the first half."
In particular, there was an error in the way the defensive midfielder pressed during the goals conceded, so we made adjustments to that at halftime.
In the second half, we found ourselves in a situation where the opponent had possession of the ball, but I don't think there were many dangerous scenes, and I believe we fought without dropping our line too much.
I think Cayman TOGASHI was really well positioned during the second play of the last set piece. That was truly a play that saved the team, and without that kind of luck, you can't win matches like this. I believe that play connected the efforts of the players with the feelings of the fans and supporters.
Summary of the press conference of G Osaka's Levir CULPI
"Looking at the result of the loss, I think it is the worst outcome, but I believe the fighting spirit of the players who fought until the end should be appreciated."
There were moments in today's match where a different result could have easily occurred. I also feel that there are still areas where the team needs to grow.
There are players who made their debut today, and I want us to work together and fight through the upcoming series of matches to strengthen the team's abilities.
Q=Please tell me about Matheus's evaluation.
"I think the evaluation of the play was average. I believe it was the first time he experienced the tempo of Japanese football, and there were some tough aspects within that. However, he is a player who inherently possesses solid technical skills, so I believe he will definitely improve as he plays more matches."
