《Tokyo U-23 - Summary of Coach Tetsu NAGASAWA's Press Conference》
"Despite the fact that about 1,000 fans and supporters came to Nishigaoka this match week and cheered for us, I feel sorry that we were unable to earn any points."
From the start of the match, the response to the opponent's play was slow, leading to a situation where we were always a step behind.
One of the factors was that the opposing forward players were able to create opportunities effectively, resulting in situations where even when pressure was applied, they were able to turn it around.
I think the whole team became a bit calmer after about 20 minutes into the first half, as Watanabe was able to respond well and deflect the ball.
I believe that if we had been able to fight more aggressively from the start, this situation would not have occurred, so I reflect on that part.
In terms of offense, it seems that there wasn't a clear path to generating goals.
Kono dribbled forward, but the opponent's adjustment was quick, and the center was closed off, so there was a lot of time spent playing on the outside.
Tried to target behind the DF line and side changes, but couldn't progress well towards the goal.
I believed that if we could progress through the match without conceding a goal, there would be opportunities, but we conceded a goal from a set piece, so we must improve.
The players are hungry for victory, so I hope they can turn that feeling into power and showcase it during training for the next match.
(The reason for the position change at the end)
"I thought about increasing the number of players in the front line because we weren't able to create an effective attacking shape."
I changed my position to create a starting point, but I couldn't advance the ball forward as I wanted due to the opponent's pressure.
"I actually wanted to change the formation when it was 0-0, but it didn't go well since we were in a situation where we were trailing."
