[Player/Coach Comments]
"Kensuke NAGAI"
(The opening goal was a big one that pulled us towards victory)
"The start of the game was very good, and it was great to be able to score on my first chance."
(I think it was a battle according to our plan)
"It was a home game, so we talked about going forward no matter what kind of ball comes from Diego OLIVEIRA. Even after taking the lead, we were able to go forward, so I think we were able to fight according to our plan."
(Diego OLIVEIRA's second goal was a goal from a flowing counterattack)
"I was able to make a good through pass by considering the timing, strength, and course. Diego OLIVEIRA made a great play to break through and score from a switch, but he was just really good in the final scene."
(There was also a great pass from Kubo)
"I was expecting a pass from Kubo, so I checked the position of the opponent's center back. Since there was no one around me, all I had to do was watch Diego OLIVEIRA's movement."
I think there were many coordinated plays from the attacking team.
(Today, I was able to score my 50th goal in J1)
"The ball from Ogawa was very good. East player collapsed near, so I was able to match well as myself. It is my first heading goal since coming to Tokyo."
(Today, two starting FWs were able to score)
"Before the game started, we talked about how it would be great if Diego OLIVEIRA and I could score together. In the end, we were both able to score and I am really happy about it."
"Akihiro HAYASHI"
(He showed a very frustrated expression in the scene of conceding a goal)
"We conceded a goal because we couldn't react to the course and gave the opponent momentum. By putting ourselves in that situation early on, we left the possibility of being at a disadvantage, so I think it was a waste."
(After that, he was defending the goal with passionate play. In the scene where he stopped the shot with his face, it seemed like he had already moved one step to the near side beforehand.)
"I felt the possibility of the opponent FW touching the ball first, so my body reacted. I'm glad I was able to stop it."
(Can it be stopped without touching it?)
"I made sure to move my body carefully, without reflexively avoiding it. I'm relieved that I was able to defend the goal with my whole body."
(It was a difficult score of 3-1. The impressive thing was how they continued to encourage the players)
"Since there was a lot of time to endure, it was important to see how we could continue that time. In the second half, it was a situation where we had to endure for a long time, so I talked to the DFs frequently about adjusting their positions in order to defend until the end."
We were able to continue playing without losing our focus even after conceding a goal. We wanted to effectively maintain the 3-0 score a little longer. There were also times when we were pushed back by Kashima's momentum. We want to use the attacks we received in the second half as fuel and make use of them in the next game.
(In terms of calling out, I also frequently communicate with players on the opposite side)
"There are certain agreements in defense with the DF line, and from my position at the back, I make sure to communicate with them."
When the game is coming to an end and the FW player cannot come back, it is necessary to clarify who will replace them and how to prevent it. We want to be able to respond flexibly depending on the situation.
Anyone can praise, but we need to create a relationship where we can say tough things during the game. I think that kind of stance tightens the team and I want to prepare for the next game while maintaining this tension."
"Masato MORISHIGE"
(The key to the second half of the battle is)
"First of all, don't panic. We were able to score 3 goals in the first half, so we could predict that the second half would unfold like that."
We cannot play like we did in the first half for the entire 90 minutes, so if I were to be greedy, I was thinking it would be good to let them attack in that way and for us to be able to make a few quick counterattacks.
"We really wanted to get 3 points, so we ended up playing defensively with all 11 players, but it wasn't a bad way to play."
(Did you have any concerns about being able to hold on? I felt the team's resilience)
"In the future, there may be situations where we have to play like we did in the second half today, so we talked about not panicking and everyone defending together when we decided to defend. There was no sense of panic on the pitch."
(This season, we are undefeated at home at Ajinomoto Stadium)
"What's important is that we haven't achieved anything yet and that we are always challengers."
We don't want to repeat the same thing as last season, so when we're winning, we want everyone to gradually show their extra strength.
"If we try to do our best together after the team falls apart, it will require many times more power. In order to continue winning, we need to come together as a team and fight while sharing our opinions."
"Tokyo - Manager Masaru HASEGAWA Press Conference Summary"
"It was great to win in front of many fans and supporters at home."
In the first half, we were also very good, but I think Kashima was also tired from the ACL. In that situation, being able to score three points was a big factor in being able to hold on until the end.
At halftime, I told the players that Kashima is not like this. It is not easy to regroup and turn the game around even after conceding three goals. As expected from a club that won the ACL last year and has won numerous titles in the past.
Although we conceded one goal in the second half, we were able to prevent a second goal by putting our bodies on the line and doing what we needed to do. If we had conceded a second goal, we may have even been pushed to a third goal and possibly even a comeback by Kashima, which shows their strength.
I wanted to bring in Jael and push back the game, thinking that I couldn't just defend. There were some parts that didn't go as planned, but I think the players who won did a good job, and we have a match against Hiroshima, who are in good shape, in 4 days. I want to make good preparations again."
(The second half was all about defense. However, around the 80th minute, player Keigo Higashi made an impressive scene by putting his body on the line to steal the ball.)
"With Higashi, Takahagi, and Omori working hard in the midfield, we were able to push back. Higashi's captaincy and his determination for this game, as well as his pre-game talk about playing with grit, made a huge impact."
(Kubo was substituted in the middle of the game)
"Maybe he hit his head during the contact. After that, the intensity dropped and I wanted to push back, so Kubo gave me a sign to sub in Ohmori. I haven't heard the details yet, so I can't say anything, but for now, I think everything is fine."
(Kubo was also the starting point for two long counter goals)
"In the first half, he showed us an impeccable performance. In defense, he played without hesitation even when matched up against national team players. Despite only having three days of rest after the Levain Cup, he played solidly and also contributed to our goals. I think he had another great performance today."
"Kashima - Go OIWA Press Conference Summary"
"As you can see, the first half was the whole game. The first goal we conceded. In the past few games, we have been conceding goals at the start of the game and in the second half. We need to find a balance between being aware and being too conscious, and perhaps our approach was too aggressive."
Although it's just hindsight, we need to pay attention and take a positioning that can turn the tables on the opponent's momentum. I think we were lacking in that aspect in the first half. We regret that it led to conceding a goal and that the first half was everything.
(Did we receive too much of the opponent's momentum until the scene of conceding a goal?)
"We had analyzed that the opponent would come out with a lot of momentum. We were not able to do well in terms of positioning to counter that, or in how we responded in certain situations. Our response to crosses was also lacking, I think."
(Kashima was not able to break through the defense, was Tokyo's defense strong, or was Kashima tired?)
"Condition management is up to me, so I feel like I need to reflect on that. However, this match was very important and we discussed how to attack Tokyo's defense, including analyzing their weak points and how to exploit them."
However, it seemed that we became anxious due to the conceded goal and our attacks became biased towards the center. In order to neutralize their pressure, it is necessary to run into open spaces, but our inability to do so was our own problem.
First, we need to take positioning to create running space. There was little coordination and movement. If the cause was that the body was heavy, my management failed, or if the players were confused, we need to reorganize how to create and enter the space.
