[Player and Coach Comments]
《Kensuke NAGAI》
(Looking back at the scoring scene)
"In a scene a little earlier, I aimed for a shot from Takahagi's pass, but I couldn't score due to the angle. I thought if I had a little more angle, I could score, so when I received a through pass from Kubo, I intentionally trapped it slightly outside to move the opposing goalkeeper to the near side. After that, I was able to smoothly slot it in, which led to the opening goal."
(I had a feeling the ball would come when Kubo had it)
"After Watanabe took the ball, Kubo had it. I thought that even if I didn't receive a pass, I could move and Kubo could shoot, so I prepared for two scenarios. When the through pass actually came, I was surprised that the ball came in more than I expected, but that ended up bringing out my strengths, so I was glad. I'm grateful that he passed the ball like that."
(I have a good connection with Kubo)
"Kubo can carry the ball on his own and can draw defenders to take a shot. The final decision is up to him, but both Diego OLIVEIRA and I continue to prepare when receiving the ball."
(One of the reasons for the team's good form is the dynamism of the forwards)
"The first goal came from a quick transition from attack to defense, where Watanabe stole the ball, allowing me to score in the end. I believe the clarity of our team's objective and everyone facing the same direction are factors contributing to our good form."
(It's a series of matches, but we are maintaining good form)
"Even if the members change, what we need to do doesn't change."
In fact, we are playing well. I want to continue this and ensure that we can fight tenaciously regardless of who is on the field.
《Tsuyoshi WATANABE》
"It was my J1 League debut, so I wanted to play with all my might. I'm glad I was able to express that well in this match."
(Were you nervous since it was your debut match?)
"I had always been prepared to go, so rather than being nervous, I felt a strong sense of excitement. I think that was a good thing."
(Things I was conscious of when approaching the match)
"I believe I must not lose to anyone in my strong points, such as heading and covering. So, while being aware of surpassing my weaknesses, I played boldly."
(The opening goal came from Watanabe's defense)
"I was lucky that the ball I stole led to a goal. I wanted to go all out to steal the ball wherever I could during the match, so when the chance ball came, I was able to steal it well, and it led to a goal. It was a scene where I was able to play ideally in my mind."
(It must have given me confidence)
"Being able to showcase my play has also led to my confidence"
(We remain unbeaten in the league up to this point. Looking forward to the next match)
"At this moment, not a single player is satisfied, and we have a strong desire to not be complacent and to win again, so I want to prepare thoroughly once more."
(I think height, strength, and physical ability are my strengths, but today the opponent had a player with speed. What were you conscious of?)
"Maeda is a junior from high school. I knew what kind of plays he would make, so I thought I wouldn't lose by predicting his speed in advance and moving first."
《Tokyo - Summary of Coach Hasegawa's Press Conference》
"Considering it was Golden Week and the weather was nice, a very large number of fans and supporters came to the match. It was great that we were able to play our football for 90 minutes among them. I believe the players maintained their focus and played until the end. Since we were up against Matsumoto, I expected a very intense match in terms of ball contests, and we discussed that if we fell behind in the basics, it would be a difficult game. I think we played with high intensity from the start. I wanted Kubo to score a goal, but I believe today's match was very sharp, and he played wonderfully."
Watanabe, who made his first start today, and Ota, who made his first start in the league this season, had some changes in the defensive line, but both smoothly entered the match, and those around them provided good support.
I believe that being able to play a new style of football as a result is a significant advantage. Next, we have a five-day break, so I want to take a proper rest and prepare for the away match against G Osaka.
(With high ball possession, we scored from the transition between offense and defense)
"On the contrary, I didn't think we could push them back that much. From watching Matsumoto's matches up to this point, I had the impression that they come at you very strongly in the first 5 to 10 minutes. I thought they would start the game that way today as well. I believed we could gradually maintain an advantage during the game contact, but Matsumoto's defensive strength is very high, so just when I thought we had scored, they would clear it at the last moment, making it not so easy to score. In that context, being able to exploit that brief moment allowed us to make a high-quality pass and shot. I really think it was a scene where that moment's precision came together perfectly."
(The ability to quickly recover when the ball is taken away seems to be a key point)
"When the opponent feels they can switch quickly, if we can take the ball away at that moment, it naturally creates a chance. Therefore, the transition after pressing is important, no matter where the opponent is. This is something I have been saying since last season. This season, we have been focusing on the precision after winning the ball. I believe the team's aim and the players' intentions aligned in that goal scene."
(With the pressure of being in first place, how do you plan to manage and lead the team?)
"Today, there was a sense of crisis within the team due to the changes in the members. There was no complacency or overconfidence just because we are in first place. The players have experienced last season's decline enough to understand that they need to fight in every match and play their own style of football."
Captain Higashi inspires the team, and the experienced players are leading the very young players, so we want to continue without feeling a relaxed atmosphere as a team during practice.
《Matsumoto - Yasuharu SORIMACHI Coach Press Conference Summary》
As I had imagined before the match, it was a tough game.
Once we fell behind, there were aspects where we had to lose our balance, so I thought Tokyo's strengths would come out even more, but it turned out to be a different development.
I thought we could regroup well in the second half, but I feel like we didn't have the energy to turn things around.
There are still areas where we can improve, so we need to focus on doing that properly.
At the same time, even though there won't be any improvement in skills when I wake up tomorrow, I have to make efforts to compensate for that while struggling.
Today's opponent is the top team in Japan's top league, so in that sense, there were parts that were educational.
I want to prepare for the next home match against C Osaka by utilizing today's experience.
(Did conceding a goal during that time disrupt the game plan?)
"Considering that we conceded a goal at a similar time in the previous Levain Cup match against Shimizu, we need to sort that part out."
The obsession with the ball is something I am particular about, but it has slightly weakened. In that sense, it's disappointing, and if I don't show my strengths there, I won't be Matsumoto.
The quick counterattack of the two forwards is also a major weapon for Tokyo, and we have been paying close attention to it, but in that sense, I think it was a disappointing goal conceded.
