[Player and Coach Comments]
Kashif BANGNAGANDE
"It's frustrating to have lost in the end, but I want to prepare thoroughly for the second match on Sunday."
(What aspects did you focus on in preparation for this match)
"I thought that with Ogawa and Jae Suk OH unable to play, a rare opportunity had come to me. First, I aimed to fight for the team's victory and thought about actively showcasing my strengths in my play. I hoped that if I could seize victory, it would be great, but we ended up losing. If I get another chance, I want to challenge myself to win next time."
(Were you nervous?)
"I was nervous, but players Niwa and Watanabe encouraged me, so I was able to enter the match smoothly today. They told me, 'It would be a waste to play passively here,' so I was conscious of showcasing my strengths as I approached the match."
(How much do you think you were able to show in your play)
"It was my first official match in a while, but once the game started, I was able to play without feeling nervous. However, I still feel that my persistence and the quality of my play in front of the goal are lacking. In terms of offense, I want to focus more on the quality of my crosses."
Masato MORISHIGE
(About the goal conceded scene)
"The assistant referee raised the flag, causing the entire team to stop. However, I think we took too much time in that area, which led to the goal conceded. It's not the referee's fault; it was the result of each choice we made in our play."
(As a result, one goal was canceled by VAR, and we lost 0-1)
"I hope we can say that it was good that the goal was canceled. I believe there will still be many chances in the second match."
(It is very important to finish the second match without conceding a goal)
"Although we couldn't win, I think it's important to fight like we did today in the second match. In that process, we want to look for chances, aim for goals, and secure our place in the Final Round."
《Tokyo - Summary of the Press Conference with Director Kenta HASEGAWA》
(When conceding a goal) I saw the assistant referee raise the flag and stopped my feet, which was very regrettable. I had told the players before the match not to stop until the whistle blows since VAR would be in play. At that moment, the assistant referee raised the flag, and we were caught off guard by G Osaka, resulting in a disappointing outcome. Such mistakes can lead to goals like that.
Although we couldn't score an away goal, we were able to push forward while managing risks in the second half.
We couldn't score an away goal at the last moment, but even in defeat, we were able to achieve a minimum result that connects to our home battle. Next, we will all fight to give our all and advance to the next round.
《G Osaka - Tsuneyasu MIYAMOTO Coach Press Conference Summary》
(It was a while since we started with a 4-back, but the intention and feeling of it)
"With the system changed, everyone communicated about when to go for the ball and what kind of slides were necessary, so I think that was good to hear from the pitch."
In terms of offense, there is the advantage of being able to exchange passes at a closer distance than the system we have been using, and considering the characteristics of the players, I thought we should go with a four-back formation. I believe our team's style is to hold the ball and advance with an advantage, and I want to use this as an opportunity to regain that aspect, which is why we adopted it today.
(Today, VAR was applied, but it resulted in a negative decision for G Osaka. As a coach, how did you perceive the interruptions in the match?)
"I think it was good that everyone was able to clear their heads.
The referee made a clear decision on that play, and I believe there won't be any lingering doubts for everyone. Regarding the time taken for such interruptions, I think we, including everyone in attendance, will get used to it.
