[Player and Coach Comments]
《Kensuke NAGAI》
"The difference in finishing ability in front of the goal led to today's result. I want to improve as an individual so that I can score more goals and contribute to the next match."
(Today, many chances were created from Nagai's breakthrough)
"Today, my accuracy in front of the goal was low. I want to reflect on this and work on it in my daily practice."
(There were many scenes where we attacked up to the goal area)
"We couldn't convert our chances, and the opponent defended patiently. I felt once again that if we can't finish our chances, we won't be able to break through when the opponent sets up a block in front of the goal."
(Even so, we saw an attacking style of Tokyo football in the second half)
"I think we were able to create good attacks, and if we don't score a goal, it will turn into a match like today. In the last 8 matches, to win the championship, our forwards, including myself and Diego OLIVEIRA, need to score. I want to prepare well over the next two weeks and take on the upcoming match against Matsumoto."
(Nagai's chant is louder than anyone else's, reflecting the high expectations of the fans and supporters)
"Today, many fans and supporters came to cheer for us away from home. I really wanted to score at least one goal, and I'm truly frustrated that we couldn't. I want to switch gears, value each match, and fight through the upcoming games from here on out."
Akihiro HAYASHI
(Reflecting on today's match)
"When we go to battle at the opponent's home ground, it is to be expected that they will come at us from the start.
In response to that, we had to confront them with even more intensity, so it was a real shame that we conceded a goal in the first few minutes. After that, we were able to play a calm game, so I think it was a matter of whether we could score a goal or not. As for the second goal conceded, it was a goal we should not have allowed.
If we don't concede there, our chances of equalizing or taking the lead in the final stages will increase. Even if we concede one goal, we must ensure that we don't concede a second.
(After the first goal conceded, we were able to regroup in the match)
"I think that's the part where we are growing. We are able to threaten the opponent and mount a comeback from behind. The question is whether we can finish it off in the final moments. We want to build on our training and prove our growth in the next match. The players in the defense line have been conceding goals in the last few matches, so we need to correct that."
(Regarding the first goal conceded)
"That goal was not about who was at fault, but rather my strong desire to have stopped it. As for the second goal conceded, there are aspects where I wonder if that response was appropriate considering the opponent's mindset."
I think there are still many areas where we are losing the tactical battle against our opponents, including those aspects, so we need to be conscious of that and work on it in training.
《Tokyo - Summary of the Press Conference with Director Kenta HASEGAWA》
We played a match true to Kashima's style, but we lost. It is a very frustrating result.
I wanted to respond to the cheers of many fans and supporters. In the second half, we created scoring opportunities, and if we had scored one goal, the outcome would have been different. We couldn't convert that chance, and we conceded an additional goal to Serginho. Today, Kashima was one step ahead in terms of finishing and fighting tenaciously.
With this, the season record is 1 win and 1 loss. At home, we won 3-1, here we lost 0-2, making the overall record 3-3, which I think is even. I believe being even with the top teams is sufficient. Matches at this stadium are difficult. The players increased their concentration and entered the match, but we conceded a goal from the first corner kick.
Tsuyoshi WATANABE's lack of experience in this kind of stadium showed a little. I hope this will become a valuable lesson for him. There are more difficult matches ahead, but I want to switch gears and prepare well for the match against Matsumoto.
(It was a situation where we wanted at least one point, but it was difficult)
"I don't think it was difficult, but we couldn't finish, so it can't be helped. Both Muroya's chance and Nagai's and Diego OLIVEIRA's were able to create scoring opportunities from broken plays. The players showed their potential, but I think we were outplayed by Kashima today."
《Kashima - Go OIWA Coach Press Conference Summary》
"Today was a match where we needed a victory, and the players fought well from the start, allowing us to score the first goal. We managed to endure a tough second half and secured an additional goal. I am very happy that we were able to fight alongside our supporters and put some pressure on Tokyo."
(It was observed that we were able to neutralize the opponent's strengths, including their two forwards, but what kind of game plan was it?)
"Of course, I gave various instructions to carefully respond to the opponent's two forwards. I think the two center-backs were well supported by those around them.
Regarding the game plan, just because a plan is made does not mean it will go as intended. We were able to take the lead and control the game, but there were moments at the start of the second half where we were pushed back a bit. We worked on correcting those areas. I believe we were able to establish a flow to finish the game properly, including the substitutions.
(There was a comment from Coach Hasegawa saying, "We were beaten by the essence of Kashima," but what does Coach Oiwa think the essence of Kashima is?)
"There are aspects that are difficult to express, but having the advantage of playing at our home, and then the commitment and determination to win, even if we are slightly pushed back by the opponent in certain situations, ultimately, it is about the individual mindset and the team's resolve to never break in the end. I confidently send out players who can play like that, and I believe they are capable of such play. I think that is what he is referring to."
