[Player/Coach Comments]
"Kensuke NAGAI"
"The difference in finishing ability in front of goal led to today's result. I want to continue to improve as an individual and score more goals so that we can connect to the next one."
(Today, many chances were created from Nagai's breakthrough)
"Today, my accuracy in front of goal was low. I want to reflect on it and work on it every day in practice."
(There were many scenes where they attacked until the goal, but...
"We couldn't score in the chances we had, and the opponent patiently defended. I felt once again that if we can't score in the chances, we won't be able to break through the opponent's defense and score when they create a block in front of the goal.")
(However, in the second half, we could see Tokyo's attacking football)
"I think we had good attacks, but if we don't score a goal, it will be a game like today. In the last 8 games, in order to win the championship, the FW line, including myself and player Diego OLIVEIRA, must score. I want to prepare well in the next two weeks and challenge the next game against Matsumoto."
(Nagai's chant is louder than anyone else's, showing the high expectations of fans and supporters)
"Today, many fans and supporters came to support us away. We really wanted to score a goal, but we couldn't and it's really frustrating. We need to switch gears and focus on each game, and fight in the remaining games."
"Akihiro HAYASHI"
(Looking back on today's game)
"When we go to the opponent's home ground to fight, we can expect to come from the beginning."
On the other hand, we had to face it with even more force, and it was a shame that we conceded a goal in the first few minutes. From there, we were able to play a calm game, so I think it was a matter of whether we could score one point or not. As for the second goal, it was a goal that should not have been conceded.
If we don't lose there, we will have more chances to tie or turn the game around in the end. Even if we concede one goal, we have to prevent the second one from happening.
(After the first goal, we were able to turn the game around)
"I think that's where we're growing as a team. We're able to threaten the opponent and make a comeback from behind. The question is whether we can finish it off in the end. We want to prove our growth in the next match by continuing to train. The players in the defensive line have been conceding goals in the last few matches, so we need to fix that."
(Regarding the first goal)
"That goal was not about who did what, but rather about my strong desire to stop it. As for the second goal, there is a part of me that wonders if that response was the right one, considering the opponent's state of mind."
"We still have many areas where we are losing in the back and forth with our opponents, including those kinds of situations, so we need to be aware of that and work on it in our training."
"Tokyo - Manager Masaru HASEGAWA Press Conference Summary"
"We played a typical Kashima game and ended up losing. It's a very frustrating result."
I wanted to respond to the cheers of many fans and supporters. In the second half, we created scoring opportunities and if we had scored one goal, the game would have had a different outcome. However, we couldn't score and ended up losing to Serginho's additional goal. Today, Kashima was one step ahead in terms of scoring ability and fighting smartly.
This makes it 1 win and 1 loss for the season. 3-1 at home, 0-2 here, and overall it's 3-3, so it's even. I think it's enough to be even with the top teams. Playing at this stadium is difficult. The players also focused and entered the game, but unfortunately conceded a goal from the first corner kick.
Tsuyoshi WATANABE felt a little inexperienced in this type of stadium. I hope this will be a learning experience for him. We have more tough games coming up, but I want to switch gears and prepare well for the Matsumoto game.
(It was a situation where we wanted at least one point, but it was difficult)
"I don't think it was difficult, but we couldn't make it, so there's nothing we can do. Both Muroya's chance and Nagai's and Diego OLIVEIRA's were able to create scoring opportunities from a broken form. The players showed their strength, but I think we were beaten by Kashima's style today."
"Kashima - Go OIWA Press Conference Summary"
"Today was a crucial game where we needed to win, and the players fought well from the beginning and were able to score the first goal. We were able to withstand a tough second half and score an additional goal. I am very happy that we were able to fight together with our supporters and put pressure on Tokyo even just a little bit."
(We were able to neutralize the strengths of the opponent, including their two top players, but what was our game plan?)
"Of course, we gave various instructions to carefully deal with the opponent's two top players. I think the two CBs were the key, with good support from the rest of the team."
Regarding the game plan, even if we have made a plan, it is not always guaranteed to go as planned. We were able to take the lead and control the game, but we were pushed back a little at the start of the second half. We made adjustments in those areas. I think we were able to finish the game well, including the substitute players.
(Comment from Manager Masaru HASEGAWA: "We were defeated by Kashima's style, but what does Kashima's style mean according to Manager Hayato HASEGAWA?"
"There are some aspects that are difficult to express, but playing at our home gives us an advantage. And then, it's about having the determination and persistence to win, even if we are pushed back by the opponent in certain situations. It's about individual consciousness and team unity, where we absolutely refuse to give in. We have confidence in our players and believe that they are capable of playing in this way. I think that's what Manager Ko HASEGAWA is referring to."
