[Player/Coach Comments]
"Keigo HIGASHI"
(Although it was a disappointing result, looking back on today's match)
"I think we were able to show our fighting spirit until the end. Of course, we wanted to become champions, but I believe we gained even more experience. Our challenge continues and as players, we must continue to challenge ourselves from now on. We will take this frustration and use it to move forward to the next step."
(The attitude of fighting was clearly shown)
"First of all, we entered the game with the intention of scoring the first goal, but in the end, we conceded 3 goals."
We have overcome many difficult and challenging matches in the past, but this match once again reminded us of the difficulty of competition.
"However, I believe there is always a meaning in playing against Yokohama FM today, so I feel that we must never forget this match."
(It was a fulfilling year spent in the position of first place for most of the season.)
"I know I've said it many times, but I'm glad to have had this experience today and I want to continue to grow from here. This season, the entire team fought for Tokyo. We want to make next season an even better year."
(Season as captain for the first time in Tokyo)
"Truly the best team. I am sincerely grateful to have been able to be captain of this team. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the coach, staff, and all my teammates."
"Masato MORISHIGE"
"At halftime, it was 0-2. In order to win, we need to score 6 points in the second half, which realistically will be difficult."
Despite such circumstances, many fans and supporters came and fought together, so we aimed for victory again and faced the second half of the battle.
(The cheers of the fans and supporters were amazing)
"In the midst of the loud cheers, we believed in miracles and fought, but looking back now, I think the game was decided when we were down 2 points in the first half."
(Although we did not reach the championship, it was a season where we showed our strength)
"It was a fantastic season. We were able to come to the point where we couldn't reach last season."
I believe that the daily accumulation has led to being able to compete for the championship until the final match.
"We were still unable to win the championship. I want to use that as motivation for next year's homework."
"Tokyo - Manager Masaru HASEGAWA"
"The players fought with all their hearts until the very end on this amazing stage."
We started the game with the intention of scoring one point, but that one point ended up being a distant result.
In the second half, the players showed a fighting spirit until the end, even in difficult situations. I felt that fighting with that kind of mindset will lead to the next step.
Must be continued next season.
Yokohama FM had a great fight in the second half, and they fought like Yokohama FM today as well.
There are great rivals like Kawasaki and Yokohama FM nearby, which is motivating. We have to aim for the top in Tokyo as well.
"I hope we can all fight together so that we can raise the trophy next time."
(Headed to Yokohama FM for a head-to-head match. They are a good match for us, but was there any difference from our past matches?)
"The players fought with a strong mentality. Teerathon's shot was unlucky. However, the second goal was due to the opponent connecting passes and ultimately being scored by Erik."
That goal just before the end of the first half may have made all the difference.
There was also a big chance here. I thought we could have taken it, but in terms of finishing power, Yokohama FM has scored 68 goals in a year, so we also need to improve our finishing accuracy and scoring ability."
(Impact of Diego OLIVEIRA's absence? Also, reason for changing the system)
"The intention was where to use Na SANGHO. He could have been used as a top two, but we thought about attacking from the side against Yokohama FM's flat defense line. It's difficult to switch with the opponent's DF if you're not a fast player. We wanted to utilize Na SANGHO on the side and create chances in conjunction with Ogawa. Also, if we couldn't win the ball in the midfield, we couldn't attack, so we were counting on Arthur's ability to win the ball."
However, Arthur also missed the timing to pass while carrying the ball.
If we could have passed the ball behind the DF in that situation, the game would have taken a different turn. I also considered his middle shot as a source of goals. I think we would have started with a two-top if Diego was here, but what should we do without him?
"When considering aiming for 4 points while keeping a clean sheet, I chose this way of fighting."
(Looking back on this season)
"I learned that I can't gain anything unless I become number one in the end."
However, we were able to fight throughout the year under the pressure of the championship race. I think it was all thanks to the players' hard work, as well as the strong support from the club and the fans and supporters.
I believe we were able to show the strength of our club even with a schedule of 8 consecutive away games.
"We must make this experience bear fruit in the upcoming season."
"Yokohama FM Ange POSTECOGLOU Press Conference Summary"
"I think we were able to play a great game with a great performance. The players were really confident. It was a difficult situation. It's a strange feeling, if we lose and concede a lot of goals, we will give the championship to Tokyo. We can win the championship with a draw or a victory."
Especially the second goal was a great point, and even though we had a player sent off towards the end, we were able to continue attacking without defending and score a third goal. I am proud of the staff and players. FC Tokyo was strong and not an easy opponent. However, we are the winners. I am truly happy."
(I think the biggest factor in winning was convincing the players that they can win with an aggressive style of soccer, but what approach did you take? For example, what did you say to Ilgyu PARK when he was sent off?)
"I think Park took responsibility and stepped up to the front, and he was able to execute the plays he had in mind. When a team is down to 10 players, many teams tend to focus on defense, but in the end, we were able to score a third goal. The players have a strong mentality and they should be proud."
(I think Yokohama FM has become a better team compared to last season, but I believe that creating a good team and winning are two separate things. We lost some key players in the summer, but we were still able to maintain our quality and win the championship. The main reason for this is)
"The reason is one, believing in our own style of football. We demand that players who come to Yokohama FM are able to play the football we want to play. Edigar JUNIO scored 11 goals from the start, and I don't think we would be in this position without his goals. Unfortunately, he got injured, but I think it's about how much we believe in the football we want to play, and that's what led to this result."
