[Player and Coach Comments]
《Keigo HIGASHI》
"The opening goal in today's match was indeed significant. After that, conceding the second goal about five minutes later made the match mentally challenging. I felt once again that if you easily give the opening goal to a high-level opponent, it becomes a difficult match."
(Instructions from the coach at halftime)
"We entered halftime having conceded 4 goals, and we aimed to score one goal at a time. In the second half, we actually aimed to score without conceding, but we couldn't get that far.
We need to carefully review the footage, reflect on our mistakes, and there were parts where we were able to execute what the coach said, so we just have to switch gears and continue through this long season.
(Impression of Kawasaki)
"They are an opponent that will score if you show any gaps. It's easy to say this after the match, but first, we need to defend firmly and put our bodies on the line. We were able to do that in the second half, but we need to play like this from the first half. We also need to take advantage of set pieces and find openings. Today's match became difficult due to the conceded goal."
(Thoughts on the remote match and feelings for fans and supporters)
"It's very disappointing that there are no fans or supporters for the Tamagawa Classico at Ajinomoto. I wish we could have played a better match, but things didn't go well today. I think these things happen over a long season, so let's not be too pessimistic. There were some good points, so we will switch gears again. We can play at Todoroki again, and by that time, I want us all to grow together."
Masato MORISHIGE
"Today's match allowed Kawasaki's attacking line too much freedom."
I think if you give a quality opponent space, it will lead to a match like today.
(What are the lessons from today's match?)
"I think we were losing in terms of mental preparation. There was also a problem with our mentality after conceding the first goal."
If we don't continue to play with the same passion as players like Muroya and Konno, especially Muroya, we won't be able to win against opponents like today. I think that's the only part.
(350 matches played today. After today's defeat, my determination for the next match)
"I apologize for the match I played, which was disappointing for the fans and supporters who watched until the final whistle on DAZN. I want to win the next match properly for those people and clear the frustration. We have another match in three days, so I want to prepare well and deliver a good game to everyone."
《Tokyo - Summary of Coach Hasegawa's Press Conference》
The start of the match wasn't that bad, but I became somewhat discouraged after the first goal. I think if we could have somehow kept it to just two goals at that point, the outcome would have been different. In the end, we showed some weakness.
I think we have made progress compared to last year's 0-3 result. In the second half, despite the score difference, the players showed their determination to aim for goals and defend the goal. I believe we were able to play a match that can lead to the next step in the second half.
In the early stages, we were still being pressured by Kawasaki, so I want us to become a tough team once again and be able to take our revenge this time. I also want to prepare thoroughly for the next match.
(Takahagi was substituted in the middle of the first half. What was the game plan for today?)
"We fought well in the first half, utilizing more midfield players, and one of the themes was not to lose in the midfield battles. In that sense, there were several moments where we connected after winning the ball and got to shooting, so I don't think it was bad, but when we let them slip through like the second goal, it becomes difficult. The intensity in the duels was lacking in the first half.
In the second half, I think the opponent had a power down due to the score difference, but even in that situation, we were able to show our determination to defend the goal and win the ball in crucial moments. If we could have played like that from the first half, I believe the match could have developed differently.
(Instructions at halftime)
"I was thinking of changing one player in the first half to see if Adailton could change the flow of the match even a little. At halftime, we talked about how we should aim to score one goal at a time. As I mentioned earlier, we were working hard on what we could do compared to the 0-3 match from last season, so we discussed how to play our style of football again in the second half. The start of the second half wasn't bad, and we were able to create chances, but we couldn't reach the goal."
What we gained from today's match
I talked about not losing in the basic aspects, but there were indeed weaknesses in the battles for the ball and in the pressure in front of the goal. In such games, there is also tension, and there were times when Hotaka NAKAMURA's defensive responses were not very good, but through matches like this, the team will continue to grow. There are things to gain from winning, but there are also lessons to be learned from losing.
The league has resumed, and I felt that the previous match still had a lot to improve on. It may be the same for all teams, but I have the impression that we have not yet switched to official match mode since starting up. Against teams that are strong in ball contests, we are still unable to showcase our team's strengths. Right now, I hope we can all fight together and improve the team's condition.
《Kawasaki - Toru ONIKI, Coach》
"Since it's the Tamagawa Classico, we aimed to play a game with passion. They really fought aggressively in a way that reflects us from the first half. I believe that being able to take the lead in the first half contributed to this result, and I want to carry this momentum into the next game as well."
(What words were said for this match)
"Anyway, it's a three-match series after the break. We talked about making sure to win here. Also, since it's the Tamagawa Classico and the other team is ranked higher than us, we discussed that we must win no matter what."
(We were talking about how one or two goals wouldn't be enough, but today we scored four goals)
"Since the regulations have changed, we don't know what can happen with just one or two goals. That's something we share as a team. The players felt that if they scored one goal, they should aim for two. If they scored two, they should aim for three. I also think it was really good that not just the goals, but also Taniguchi and Jesiel, along with both full-backs, were able to put their bodies on the line at the crucial moments."
