Coach Kenta HASEGAWA who led to victory
[Player and Coach Comments]
《Shuto ABE》
"As a result, we were able to win 3-0, and since two of the goals were mine, I am honestly very happy."
(Today was a do-or-die match, but did you feel a different kind of pressure than usual?)
"It was a match we had to win, but I was able to approach it just like any regular league game.
I think we were able to achieve victory because we started the first half very well and played football that is characteristic of Tokyo.
I think both goals showcased great running ability.
I wanted to score myself, and if I hadn't made the run into the goal area, I wouldn't have been able to take the score.
In both instances when I ran into the goal area, the ball came to me, so all I had to do was tap it in. I want to thank my teammates.
(Regarding the point that I was able to contribute to the team with visible results)
"Since the departure of players Hashimoto and Higashi, there have been many matches where the team has struggled to secure victories, and I have felt a sense of responsibility myself.
However, while gradually wanting to showcase my strengths, I was able to score in J1 and also scored today.
It is important for me to lead the team even without these two, and I want to continue playing with responsibility and contribute to scoring.
It seems that the relationship among the three midfielders is maturing.
"Takahagi is actively communicating with us.
It's easy for me as well, and when I'm in trouble regarding my play, I ask Takahagi for advice.
I think that with Takahagi, Arthur SILVA, and myself at the center, the midfield is functioning well, and I want us to continue to enhance our collaboration to achieve even better play.
《Adailton》
(Looking back at the match)
"I thought it would be a very difficult match, but I’m glad that the whole team fought together, secured the victory, and was able to advance to the next stage."
(Looking back at the goal scene)
"I don't remember much about the goal scene, but I was able to take the ball from the opposing defender and carry it with a dribble.
I was calm and was able to slot the ball into the goal, and I believe the results of my regular shooting practice have paid off.
《Tokyo - Summary of the Press Conference with Director Kenta HASEGAWA》
"It was very good to talk about how the opening goal was key and to score it in a good way. In the second half, we were able to score an additional goal in an ideal manner, and we also managed to secure a final goal to seal the deal. I think the players did very well."
(Shuto ABE scored 2 goals. The accuracy of the attacking play is improving)
"I have been watching Shuto's play since last year, and I knew he had the finishing ability and sense for the final pass even in college. However, I think the early part of the season was tough for him to showcase his skills due to the speed and physicality of J1. Recently, I believe he has gained confidence and is starting to show his true qualities."
(The system's stability is improving, and it was functioning well today)
"The agreements during defense have been worked on since the spring camp, but it has been a situation where we couldn't quite implement them well.
Especially when pressing from the front and when forming a block in our own half, even though I understood it in my head, I couldn't switch effectively on the pitch. Recently, the transition between pressing and forming a block has become smoother.
The attack was able to fight in August with a fixed lineup, so the combinations improved throughout the match. Gradually, everyone is starting to understand the formation, and while we haven't reached the point of 'anyone can play,' it's important to see if we can maintain the quality of the game even when we change the members.
I think there will still be ups and downs, but now the parts I think about in my head and my actual play are starting to link naturally.
《Nagoya - Massimo FICCADENTI Coach Press Conference Summary》
In the first half, we were completely outplayed by individual skills, and we couldn't do anything as Diego OLIVEIRA created chances and we conceded a goal. After that, we were forced into a game style that the opponent wanted, focusing on solid defense and quick counterattacks.
In the second half, we changed the lineup and had a better balance of holding the ball and pressing forward, but mistakes occurred, and we were caught off guard by quick counterattacks. The timing of the goals was also favorable for the opponent, and I wonder how much time we had to effectively enter the match during that heavy rain. The players also faced some challenging moments.
The Levain Cup has ended, so we will switch gears. The players who fought today, including Yonemoto and Abe, were able to play, and while I can't say for sure if we will have more depth in our squad from today onward, the options have certainly increased.
You have worked hard until today. Focus on the league matches, and we can positively shift our current ranking. We must be grateful to the players for the fact that we can still challenge for a higher position.
Today, Tokyo won as they were meant to win. Looking at the score, there is nothing to complain about. I want to continue to ensure that the players can play comfortably in the league matches.
