[Player and Coach Comments]
《Rio OMORI Player》
(Although I had experience in cup matches, this was my J1 debut. How did you feel when the coach called on you?)
"In a situation where we were one player down and the team was struggling, I thought about what I could do, and the result was to go for scoring without conceding. That aligned with the team's intentions, so I had no hesitation.
As a result, we conceded goals and couldn't score, so it ended in the worst possible pattern, and I feel like we couldn't do anything.
(The part where I felt the difference from Yokohama FM)
"When I was on the field, we were one player short, but the opponent's quality and their attitude to push forward never diminished until the end."
I felt that a strong team is one that can maintain quality for 90 minutes.
(I entered the position of my goal, but how to make use of today's experience)
"I fought on the pitch, and I am very sorry that it ended with this result. I need to become a player who is admired by those around me, and I must never repeat matches like this. No matter the situation, I have to play the way I should, and I must play to help the team win. I want to continue with the attitude of fighting without giving up from now on."
(After the match, I collapsed on the ground, but what was I feeling?)
"I felt a very strong sense of regret."
However, I reflect that such behavior is not good as a professional, and I believe the players who played the full match felt even more regret.
Since it was a score after fighting with all my might, I should have controlled my emotions. While fighting with the Tokyo emblem on my back, I should not have played in such a way. I felt regret and frustration at my own lack of ability.
(Considering that it was a score that is unlikely to happen again, how can we utilize this for the future)
"I believe I need to become a player who leads Tokyo, so I need to think about how to move the team forward. When things are going well, I think we can naturally elevate each other, but when things are going poorly, someone needs to change the team's momentum. I want to become a player who can do that.
I will never forget this match, and I believe I must use this experience during difficult times.
《Keigo HIGASHI》
(8 goals conceded in one match has become the club's worst record)
"I truly feel sorry for the fans, supporters, and everyone involved with Tokyo, and I find it hard to express my feelings; it is a disappointing situation."
(There was a change in formation, and I played in the libero position in the second half, but I was thinking about how to play)
"I was thinking about what I could do for the team, and I started the second half thinking about scoring as many goals as possible. Although I was not familiar with the libero position, I wanted to contribute somehow.
Ultimately, we conceded more goals in the second half, and I feel sorry for not being able to meet the coach's expectations. We have to accept this result and make sure to learn from it for the next time.
(The first goal seemed to be the trigger for the large number of goals conceded)
"I haven't seen the footage yet, so I can't explain everything, but I believe the start was definitely not bad."
Yokohama FM has placed speedy players in the front line instead of tall players, which is different from usual. They understood that the opponent was targeting the space behind Tokyo.
The opening goal is important in any match, and losing a player from the field disrupted our plan. However, we had to at least minimize the goals conceded. I feel ashamed as a professional.
(Where do you feel the cause of this result lies?)
"It's difficult, but the cause is not just one thing. I believe that to recover from such frustrating matches, it is a matter of each individual's mindset, so we must turn this into a positive."
There are 3 matches left in the league, but we must show our determination. We cannot end like this, so I think we have no choice but to carefully watch the footage, analyze it, and move on to the next step.
(Towards the next)
"We have no choice but to switch our mindset and move forward. Having been challenged this much, we can only face it head-on. We will prepare well for the next match and ensure that we deliver a game that meets everyone's expectations."
《Tokyo - Summary of the Press Conference with Director Kenta HASEGAWA》
A feeling of shame that goes beyond frustration.
The players did well, and I am grateful that the fans and supporters continued to cheer until the end. This is also due to our lack of strength, and I am truly frustrated. I want to build up my strength and work hard so that I can repay this frustration somewhere else.
(What kind of encouragement did you give the players after the match in light of this result?)
"I conveyed what I just mentioned. I thought it was understandable if the fans and supporters stopped cheering at some point, but they continued to support us until the end. I communicated this fact to the players. I talked about the need to fight while carrying the feelings of the fans and supporters."
(Two years ago, regarding the gap created by the opponent we competed for the championship)
"This season, I reflect that we were unable to fight as an organization and as a team in the details. We have the numbers, but we fail to clear the ball, allowing it to roll to the opponent, resulting in conceding goals. I don't think there is even an 8-point gap, but the team that competed for the championship before is currently in second place, while we are languishing in mid-table. I believe the differences in details accumulate and lead to differences in rankings, so if we don't address those areas again, I think the gap with the top teams will continue to widen."
(The intention of placing Higashi as a libero after the start of the second half)
"I think Omori was nervous since it was his first appearance in J1 with one player less. In that situation, I wanted to keep Higashi close to help him play calmly."
Also, it was a tough situation to position both sides high up with the new members, so I placed Higashi in the center and positioned Nagatomo and Ryoma WATANABE a bit higher. I thought about it with the hope that we could capitalize on one chance. I set the midfield to three players to provide support to the sides and forwards. I believe the players were a bit confused, but I think they managed to keep going until the end without losing focus.
(What is the cause of this result)
"I knew that the opponent's forward had speed, and if we had managed that a little better with our defensive line, I think we would have had a chance to prevent their opening goal. Especially the third goal was related to a mistake. I feel that the young players got a bit flustered by conceding such goals. We need to be more solid at the back when entering the match, and there were several players at the front who were not fighting, so if everyone doesn't show a fighting spirit, we will end up with results like this.
It has turned into the worst scenario I had anticipated, so I believe this reflects my lack of foresight.
