□Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, Comment
"First of all, congratulations on yesterday's victory. We have recently signed a wide collaboration agreement with FC Tokyo. While we have concluded agreements with various companies in the past, this is our first with a professional sports team. FC Tokyo, as a community-based J.League club for Tokyo residents, greatly contributes to the healthy development of children and the revitalization of local communities. Additionally, through experiences such as blind soccer to promote parasports and the dissemination of HTT message videos, FC Tokyo has cooperated with various Tokyo Metropolitan Government initiatives, for which I would like to express my sincere gratitude once again. Society's structure and people's values are undergoing significant changes. Policy shifts from the perspective of Tokyo residents are indispensable. In this regard, collaboration with diverse community stakeholders is essential. This time, we have also received proposals such as holding exercise classes aimed at disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as nursing care and frailty prevention. These are wonderful proposals, and together with everyone at FC Tokyo, I can envision elderly people engaging in physical activity, which will bring positive effects in many ways. Truly, this is a wide collaboration, and I feel reassured by the broad cooperation across various fields. Moving forward, by leveraging the various strengths of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the many messages FC Tokyo can convey through sports, and the wide collaboration agreement that connects these efforts to practical action, I hope we can engage in many activities together. I look forward to working closely together from this opportunity onward."
□ Shigeya Kawagishi, President and CEO of Tokyo Football Club Co., Ltd. Comments
"Tokyo is the capital of Japan and also a major city in the world. For us at FC Tokyo, it is our hometown, so we are very pleased to have concluded this wide collaboration agreement in this way. I would like to express my sincere gratitude once again to Governor Koike and all the departments involved in this agreement. The J.League upholds the philosophy of community-based football, and FC Tokyo has advanced with the motto of being a 'club for Tokyo residents,' now celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Our cooperation with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government covers a wide range of areas. Last year, through more than 20 initiatives, we worked together to address various social issues and changing needs of the capital, Tokyo, and have promoted various efforts. We are delighted that by concluding this wide collaboration agreement, we can deepen our initiatives with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government across even broader fields. We strongly feel the great power of sports. At FC Tokyo, we aim to enrich the lives of Tokyo residents through the power of sports, and we believe this is our mission. Taking this wide collaboration agreement as an opportunity, we will further deepen our relationship with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and continue various initiatives. We appreciate your continued support."
□Masato MORISHIGE 2023 Season FC Tokyo Captain Comment
"First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who cooperated in concluding this agreement. FC Tokyo has continued many hometown activities so far. We players have actually visited elementary schools, played soccer with the children, eaten school lunches together, and conveyed what we have learned through sports to the children, engaging in community activities. I am very pleased that these various activities have led to the conclusion of this agreement. Recently, with events like last year's World Cup and the WBC, I myself have once again felt the greatness of sports. At the World Cup, Yuto NAGATOMO performed brilliantly, and currently Kashif BANGNAGANDE is competing as a member of the Japan national team. I believe that the success of FC Tokyo players brings joy to the local community as well. From here on, as a professional sports team in Tokyo, we want to cooperate in various ways for the citizens of Tokyo and strive to achieve even greater success."
