We are pleased to announce that we have won the "2024 J.League Best Development Club Award" at the 2024 J.League Awards.
This is the second consecutive award following last season, and the fourth award in total including the 2010 and 2017 seasons, making it the most for a J-League club.
□ Shigeya Kawagishi, Representative Director and President's Comment
"I am very pleased to have received the 'Best Development Club Award' for the fourth time, which is the second consecutive season and the most ever, following last season."
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans and supporters, the local community, and our partners for their tremendous support that has made our academy activities possible. Starting this season, we have launched initiatives to support our academy activities through individual and corporate supporters and partners, and we are grateful for the tremendous support we have received. Once again, we would like to thank everyone involved.
At FC Tokyo Academy, players are continuously selected for the Japan national team by age group, and they are also active in tournaments on the world stage. Already, three players have been promoted to the top team for next season, and the percentage of academy graduates in the top team is also increasing. I feel that this is all due to the established player development know-how at FC Tokyo Academy.
By winning this award last season, FC Tokyo was able to participate in the "2024 Gothia Cup" held in Sweden, a global tournament for youth development. FC Tokyo was able to become the runner-up in this tournament. This was a very valuable opportunity for the club to compete with the world at this age level, and we were also able to receive a very important opportunity for player development.
We will continue to strive to strengthen our development efforts in order to maintain this positive cycle of player development. We ask for your continued support.
□Satoru ASARI Academy Director
"This award is thanks to the support of our Academy supporters and partners, as well as the local community who have always been there for us, our fans and supporters, and most importantly, those who have passionately conveyed their thoughts and support for our developing players. We sincerely thank you all."
In addition, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the teams in the FC Tokyo Academy who have sent players (under 12 years old elementary school age) to us.
This season, FC Tokyo U-18 conducted a Germany expedition and also participated in the "2024 Gothia Cup" held in Sweden, where they achieved second place. FC Tokyo U-15 Fukagawa also conducted a France expedition, and FC Tokyo U-15 Musashi conducted a Netherlands expedition, allowing players from each age group to gain overseas experience. In the development stage, we have been given a very valuable opportunity to play against the world.
The collaboration with the top team that we are working on as a club has a significant impact, and by feeling closer to the goal, such as participating in practice, we can encourage further growth of the players. We will continue to focus on player development more than ever, without being satisfied with the current situation, so that we can continue this positive cycle and cultivate players who will represent Japan and perform on the world stage. We would like to thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
