□Comment from Yuichi MARUYAMA
“I will move to Nagoya Grampus this time.
I am very sorry to leave the team in the middle of the season. Considering the possibility of winning, the transfer was a very difficult decision.
Looking back on the last six months, while the team was doing well, I was strongly concerned about whether I could maintain my position, feeling anxiety and loss. After much struggle and reflection, I challenged myself in a new environment and decided to move because I wanted to grow more as a player.
I started my professional career in Tokyo, and including Tokyo’s academy, I was able to play as a player in Tokyo for nine and a half years. I played at Ajinomoto Stadium and had many valuable experiences.
I believe I am who I am today thanks to the directors, staff, players, and stakeholders who have been involved with me until now.
Whether the team was doing well or poorly, whether at Ajinomoto Stadium or even at distant away games, I am filled with nothing but gratitude to all the fans and supporters who have supported me with passionate encouragement and courage.
I will no longer be Yuichi Maruyama of FC Tokyo, but I will do my best to show my growth. Thank you for nine and a half years.”
