Implementation of Carbon Offset at FC Tokyo Home Games

Notice from the club

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021 (national holiday), at Ajinomoto Stadium, for the 2021 Meiji Yasuda Life J1 League Sec. 34 match hosted by FC Tokyo against Shimizu S-Pulse, all CO2 emissions (30t※2) will be carbon offset by TOKYO GAS CO.,LTD and Hinatao Energy Co., Ltd. using the "J-Credit System※3". We are pleased to announce this initiative.

□Details of Implementation
Tokyo Gas and Hinatao Energy will utilize the J-Credit system to offset all CO2 emissions generated during the Sec. 34 match of the 2021 Meiji Yasuda J1 League between FC Tokyo and Shimizu S-Pulse, held at Ajinomoto Stadium on Wednesday, November 3 (national holiday).

□Regarding the Environmental Initiatives of Tokyo Gas, Hinatao Energy, and FC Tokyo
Tokyo Gas utilizes the "J-Credit System" for environmental contributions at internal and external events as well as during FC Tokyo's home games.
Hinatao Energy provides renewable energy that is easy to implement in buildings and apartments through solar energy services, advancing efforts towards the realization of a decarbonized society. Additionally, this will be the first use of the "J-Credit System."
Additionally, FC Tokyo has been engaged in environmental contributions through activities such as the recycling project "ECO Pass Project in Ajinomoto" for PET bottles collected at the match venue, the use of reusable cups during match operations, and encouraging business staff to bring their own chopsticks.
The three companies will continue to actively contribute to improving local and global environmental issues through initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact, starting with CO2 reduction.

*1 Carbon offset refers to the concept of first making efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2, which are unavoidable in daily life and economic activities, as much as possible, and then compensating for the greenhouse gases that are inevitably emitted by investing in activities that reduce greenhouse gases equivalent to the amount emitted.

*2 At FC Tokyo's home games, CO2 is emitted due to energy consumption from match operations at the stadium and transportation of visitors, players, and staff. It is estimated that about 30 tons of CO2 are emitted per home game, which corresponds to the amount of CO2 absorbed by approximately 2,000 cedar trees in one year.

*3 The J-Credit System is a program certified by the government that quantifies the reduction and absorption of greenhouse gases such as CO2 through initiatives like the introduction of energy-saving equipment and forest management as "credits." The credits generated by this system can be utilized for various purposes, including achieving the goals of low-carbon society implementation plans and carbon offsetting.
