□ What is the Tamagawa Classico...
Since the JFL era in 1997, both clubs have been honing their skills as "good rivals" through intense matches and numerous dramatic developments. In particular, in 1999, the first year of J2, Tokyo Gas aimed to join the J1 League, which led to the current FC Tokyo, and both clubs fought fiercely for promotion, successfully achieving promotion to the J1 League together. Kawasaki Frontale was relegated to J2 League after one year, but they were promoted again in 2005 and are once again engaged in fierce battles between the two clubs.
The history of battling while uplifting each other in this land divided by the Tamagawa River shows excitement that rivals the "derbies" held in other cities. Moving forward, we will cherish the history of both sides and aim to make this battle a tradition. Thus, we have named it "Tamagawa Classico," combining the symbol that separates the two clubs, the "Tamagawa," with the Spanish term for "traditional match," which is "Clasico."
The name "Tamagawa Classico" started in 2007, but to honor the history of fierce battles between FC Tokyo and Kawasaki Frontale, we count it as "Tamagawa Classico" from the battles of 1999, the inaugural year of J2. There were a total of 10 matches from 1999 to 2006. The project started in 2007, and the first match, held on May 6, 2007, was positioned as the "11th Tamagawa Classico" during Kawasaki Frontale's home game.
In the future, we will continue to strive together so that we can build our history with 50, 100, 200 matches, and more.

Both clubs have agreed that only matches counted as the Tamagawa Classico will be from the 'league matches' only. (Matches in cup competitions, including the Emperor's Cup, will not be counted.)

The current match record is 8 wins, 7 draws, and 11 losses for Tokyo.
