INTERVIEW2022.3.18

Interview with Yojiro TAKAHAGI

Q: It was a difficult situation with one player less, but how did it feel to make your first appearance of the season in the match against Júbilo Iwata?
A, since we were playing with one player less, it was important to play while considering the situation of the match. Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA mentioned after the match that he was not satisfied with the developments after Aoki was sent off in the match against Cerezo Osaka, so even with 10 players, we focused on keeping possession of the ball and managing the time with the ball. In the end, the fact that the opponent had a numerical advantage did not change, but I believe the team was able to work together to prevent conceding goals.

Q, is it that the entire team was able to unify their awareness of making it our ball rather than simply clearing it?
A, we played with the intention of increasing the time we held the ball. I intended to convey that intention to the entire team by drawing the ball out, and although we lost possession many times, I believe that being able to play with that mindset will lead to our next match and beyond.

Q: So, even in a situation of numerical disadvantage, the team had the attitude to challenge for ball possession.
A, while actually playing, I felt that everyone was aware of connecting the ball.

Q: Did you feel any sense of play or response from participating in the official match?
A, I still don't feel involved in the matches at all. I want to show a stronger attitude of playing for the team, and I want this season to be one where I can showcase my strengths during the games.

Q: What is necessary in your daily efforts for the next appearance?
A, the first condition is to fully commit to daily training, and on top of that, when I get to play in a match, I want to express what I can do in that situation through actual play. Regardless of the form of participation, while utilizing my experience, I am only thinking about playing for the team in any situation.
