INTERVIEW2022.3.17

Interview with Go HATANO

Q: I think we showed a good performance in the match against Jubilo Iwata, but how do you reflect on the game?
A, I also looked back at the footage, and there are still many issues to address. In the second half, there was a moment when I stopped once and then stopped again for the second time, but I believe that by moving my teammates before that, we could have eliminated the crisis itself. It's not just about my saving; I think I need to be aware of such aspects moving forward.

Q, can you reflect on those two consecutive saves?
I closed the distance while erasing the course. However, I feel that the way I stopped the ball was not as I ideally wanted. If I had stopped it differently, it could have been my ball instead of a corner kick, and I believe I am still not performing up to my ideal standards. I need to train more in that area.

Q: You seem to be in very good condition, including the preseason. How do you feel about it yourself?
A, my condition is good. I think I have been able to train well since camp, so I am ready to play in any match, and I believe I am competing at a high level with Kodama and Jakub SLOWIK, so I want to improve my condition even more to not fall behind the two of them. I think the goalkeeper position is one where opportunities can arise suddenly, so I believe I must always be prepared to play in matches.

Q: Jakub SLOWIK has also shown a wonderful performance, does it ignite any passion in you when you see that?
Yes, I have that feeling, but I've been watching Hayashi perform at a high level since his first year, and that situation hasn't changed. However, I do feel regret about not being able to play this season after being given the opportunity last season. I want to be someone who can always protect FC Tokyo's goal, so I want to keep pushing forward without giving up.

Q: What do you think your role on the pitch is when you seize an opportunity?
A, regarding the build-up phase, I am able to play with confidence, so I hope to create a good rhythm when I have the ball. In terms of coaching, I want to give more specific instructions to help move my teammates.

Q: I believe the expectations for goalkeepers have changed since Coach Albert took over. What efforts have been made in this regard so far?
I believe that what is required is quite simple. Therefore, I can play without overthinking, and if the goalkeeper stands out too much in possession, it disrupts the team's rhythm, so I focus on ensuring the team circulates well.

Q: I think we are in a situation where we are hungry for matches, but I want to continue making my appeal.
I have the desire to express myself by playing in matches, so I want to always show that in practice and demonstrate plays that convey that feeling.
