2024 CAMP REPORT & INTERVIEW
vol.4 Kosuke SHIRAI

The Okinawa Kunigami camp has entered its 7th day. We made some changes to the training schedule and dedicated most of the time to conditioning adjustments.

At the beginning of practice, the players divided into sections for strength training and hurdle exercises. Each player checked their own condition while making adjustments for the upcoming camp.

In the subsequent training on passing and ball control, we focused on the tempo of moving the ball and passing work that considered the direction of the attack. Quick tempo and accuracy in passing to teammates were required.

In the final stages, mini-games were conducted. The attacking team had restrictions placed on them, focusing on coordination among players and switching between offense and defense, aiming for the goal.

After practice, we conducted an interview with number 99, Kosuke SHIRAI.

Q, please review the game against FC Ryukyu that took place recently.
A, scoring points is a plus, and I believe this season will truly be a decisive year. I think that by producing clear results in numbers, it will lead to opportunities to start in the lineup, so I want to be dedicated to this.

Q: I believe that taking an offensive position led to the goal.
A, until now I have often been running up the side as a fullback, but I think there have been few scenes where I moved inside. By taking a position in the center, I believe more goals and assists can be created, so I have a strong awareness of moving inside.

Q: The camp has started, and a week has passed. How do you feel about it?
Since last season, I have been working on defense and creating attacks from the back of our own half. The way we build our defense is different from the teams I have been with before, and I want to start by solidifying that within myself. Until now, I have often played as a full-back in higher positions, but I also want to focus on maintaining stability when playing in lower positions while showcasing my strong points. I have good physical sharpness, and in practice matches, I was able to sprint more than anyone else. My body is in good condition, and I believe I have started the camp well.

Q: How would you like to spend the remaining 10 days of camp leading up to the opening match?
I have been able to build good relationships with my teammates, so I want to cherish the time during the camp and make it a fulfilling time as a team.
