□ "Healthy Heart Day"

Circulatory diseases, represented by stroke and heart disease, are known to be the second leading cause of death among Japanese people after cancer. However, they rank first in medical expenses and are also the leading cause of nursing care, making them a significant social issue beyond just healthcare. On the other hand, unlike cancer, prevention is extremely effective through proper education. Therefore, the Basic Act on Cardiovascular Disease Measures enacted in 2019 emphasizes the promotion of nationwide prevention awareness. The Japan Heart Foundation designated August 10 (Heart Day) in 1985 and has held heart disease prevention awareness events around August 10 every year. Since 2021, the Japanese Circulation Society, the Japanese Circulation Association, and the Japan Heart Foundation, and from 2023 the Japan AED Foundation, have collaborated to form the Healthy Heart Day Executive Committee, further advancing awareness and dissemination efforts.
